Anime Movie 'Mirai no Mirai' Wins Animation of the Year of the 42nd Japan Academy Prize

Winners of 42nd Japan Academy Prize have been announced on Friday. Among the five nominees, Mirai no Mirai wins animation of the year.

Other nominees are Dragon Ball Super Movie: Broly, Penguin Highway, Detective Conan Movie 22: Zero The Enforcer, and Wakaokami wa Shougakusei! Movie.

The Japan Academy Prize recognizes excellence in Japanese films, both animation and live-action, actors, and creative staff similar to the Academy Awards and is given annually.

It was well deserved. The story was very good and the other movies nominated were mediocre at best
is sad that Kimi ni Suizou wa Tabetai wasn't nominated 😭

It deserved this prize, i really enjoyed watching it. The characters, the plot, the atmosphere around it, the originality of the realisation, everything was perfect. Really a good movie and my fav of Mamoru Hosada's since The Girl Who Leapt Through Time .

Good to see Mirai no Mirai win this and Penguin Highways among the nominees but a little disappointed to not see Maquia(yet again!) and Kimi ni Suizou wa Tabetai.

I’ll most definitely get around to watch Mirai no Mirai and Penguin Highway as soon as my exams end!
