The Diamond no Ace All-Star Game III event at the Meiji Jingu Stadium announced a TV anime adaptation of Yuuji Terajima's Diamond no Ace Act II (Ace of Diamond Act II) sequel manga on Sunday, scheduled to premiere in 2019. The 52nd issue of Weekly Shounen Magazine will announce further details regarding the new anime on Wednesday.

The original Diamond no Ace manga was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shounen Magazine between May 2006 and July 2015 and compiled into 47 volumes. Terajima launched the sequel manga the following month, which has 14 volumes in print as of November 16. The fourth and fifth volumes bundled two OVA episodes in 2016.

The manga received two anime seasons in Fall 2013 and Spring 2015, co-produced by animation studios Production I.G and Madhouse. Crunchyroll simultaneously streamed both seasons with subtitles.

Kodansha Comics USA licensed the original manga in English and has been publishing it digitally since last March. The 16th volume was published on October 23, with the 17th volume planned for a November 27 release.

Diamond no Ace won the 53rd Shogakukan Manga Awards and the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards for shounen manga in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

They started it a bit too early should have waited a year or 2 more before adapting i think they will stop at a point then give season two later on just like first manga

Realistic sport anime with a lot of slice of life moment = boring

I did not watch Diamond no Ace (only 1st episode but dropped it), but I know it is horrible because almost every single realistic sport has been boring. I only like to watch sport anime like captain tsubasa 2018 or Kuroko's Basketball, character that has insane skills and flashy powers. It more fun and more intense

It's one of the most intense series released in years. Sports or not. If you haven't even seen the show I don't know how you can think commenting on what you think it 'might' be is a good idea. Well animated by I.G. and Madhouse, well directed. Realism in sports anime gives an added sense of tension, since, you know, a character can't just use his plot device super move to save the day.

Obviously, to voice his opinion. I have also gotten bored of it and dropped it after s1.

His opinion doesn't matter if he watched less than 1% of the show. Period.

I can understand n your case, because you actually watched content, but the dude literally watched 20 minutes of this show. He's spent more time ragging on it than watching it

Yes! My favourite sports anime and one of my favourite anime in general is coming back! You have no idea how happy I am.

I did start reading Act II a few years ago but stopped with the hope that it’d get animated one day because I much prefer seeing it all animated. I’m so happy it’s finally happening, I can’t wait to see all my favourites walking and talking again along with the new first years.

Best example is sports anime with a lot of slice of life is Free!. I see you prefer fast-paced sports anime with op characters that has no actual growth.

Thanks for sharing your opinion I guess.

No growth ?!

In captain tsubasba and Kuroko's Basketball the characters learn new moves and skills that not even real life sport players can do. It has more growth that these boring "realistic" sport

Yeah so much from a person who only watched one episode. But srsly, I don't like wasting my time arguing over Chinese cartoons especially for you getting defensive over my comment.

Sayonara! And again, thanks for checking out the thread of the anime you dislike.

Not if you enjoy the intricacies or rules of the sports. Daiya is full of baseball, there's no slice of life moments. It showcases the enjoyment and hardwork put into the sport, not to mention the character growth.
