Well Kemono Friends deserved it despite the production being the weakest aspect of the series, but I am going to guess it has to do with anime itself not actual animation.

Aside from Kajiura (I personally believe the best is SukaSuka's OST or basically Tatsuya Katou) I believe everything else is good or fine.

Tatsuki and Kemono Friends have done it again. Congratulations! They totally deserve it. Kemono Friends really was a hidden gem last year which flew under the radar in the west.

And a really big congratulations to Yuki Kajiura for the Princess Principal OST. Loved the anime,loved the soundtrack even more.

Looks like Japan doesn't think CG is bad thing. Not a fan of Kono Sekai, bored me but quality is subjective thing, so yeah.

Old anime fag: Old anime is better than modern anime because old anime don't have CG.
Japan give CG anime award.

Ok so I haven't watched kemono whatever but I thought the animation was by far the weakest part of the show. Riddled with CGI and choppy frames.

Yet it wins best animation!

At least Yuki Kajiura got an award for that godlike OST.
