Netflix just commission these series (aka provide the funding), they don't do the writing/directing/animation or anything. Calling it "their" anime is kinda rude to the studios that make them.
Yeah but they give this staff pretty much free reign to make whatever they want with pretty much any uncensorship they desire. They have no television mandate they have to uphold to have their series broadcast and that right there is more valuable than anything.
Nope, they don't. Every one of these supposedly Netflix Original anime aren't made by them. They're not even part of the Production Committee either be it Devilman Crybaby, B the Beginning or Aico.
Aniplex and Dynamic Planning are the committee of Devilman
Production IG is the committee of B the Beginning
Bones, Bandai Visual, Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures, Lantis and Yamasa are part of the comitte for AICO
Netflix in this case make a contract to these companies and they stream the anime exclusively in their platform. In that way they do the comission but the ones who are actually funding the anime are the production committee.

Lmao this is so true. I always find it funny whenever I see that part in netflix shows. It wasn't exactly made by them they just provide the funding or bought the rights / licensed the show. The word 'original' is kind of misguiding, some people even really thought all those shows with netflix 'original' was made by them which isn't exactly the case.

So wait is this series going to be airing first? Or is it going straight to Netflix with all the episodes already available? Like are we going to have to go to other anime sites like we usually do for series that get licensed by Netflix?
Like Devilman Crybaby, the entire serie straight to netflix, no airing on TV in japan.

I mean that's just me in all honesty. People tend to check at the staff (not a lot of them but some do) to have an idea if its worth investing on a series or not. Staff for me are important since it gives the final nail whether its good of an selection or bad to where it won't be something I want to waste time on.
Not saying you're a casual either or anything (nor anyone that does this type of thing that picks an series for the voice casting choice), that's just how people will take the series a shot or give it a try. It's not bad. I might not like the approach, but that's personally how I see it. In the end you do you so.
But I'm gonna disagree with you with one thing. Even if the "staff" did a horrible train wreck, it could be somewhat saved.
It is when the cast gave their all. Those so called "critics" praises the actors for what they done then ridicule the staff and story.
You DO have a point that even if a staff has a terrible track record, it doesn't really mean that the staff will commit the same issues again. Not trying to disregard on this and sometimes shows can prove me wrong on the staff and the show itself might be something that can be competent enough.
Now, for the point of the cast point: Yes, a series CAN be somewhat saved because of the voice performance, but it really all depends how those characters are portrayed with the voice actors. It really depends at the end of the day.
This is why at the end of the day, if I can be honest characters are the important factor in any medium. You can have a great story, but if you have weak characters then of course the story wouldn't be interesting for anyone. Where as a weak story yet great or likable characters can do something worthwhile within a show.
I guess that's probably your case of point I suppose. Maybe its just me but after writing this now I kinda see where you're coming from.

Well, that's you but most of us do what I do. And not everyone cares about the staff, only few people was caring about them.
You could say we are just casuals, we don't know anything about staff track records or what they are capable of.
Oh well, maybe those who knows those kinds of things are those member of the "elites"

I don't usually avoid shows for VAs I tend to avoid them once either I see some staff selections that I don't really like or the premise seems something that I will not enjoy at all.
Even if the VAs are all-stars, if the concept is not something to my liking or the staff doesn't look impressive I tend to avoid them like the plague.

I don't get why someone would avoid a show just because one person they don't like is working on it. You know, the dude could do good work here. At least give him a chance.
This isn't anything new but it leaves a bad taste in people's mouths because Comet Lucifer was pretty fucking bad.
I'm not going to totally avoid it, but this sets my expectations rather low.

Because for sure the show would be be bad, because his voice was for weak characters. (Kirito was overrated)
Unless the show stirred up a good response and viewership, I'm sure they are gonna be curious about it.
