A Twitter account has launched and officially announced that Kengan Ashura manga series will get an anime adaptation. It previously won a fan contest held by Ura Sunday to determine which manga should be adapted into anime.

Kengan Ashura is written by Yabako Sandrovich and is illustrated by Daromeon. It began serialization in Shogakukan's Ura Sunday magazine in April 2012. A total of 22 volumes have been released, with the latest went on sale this October. The manga series also won the 100-Mannin ga Erabu Omoshiroi WEB Comic wa Kore da! (This is the Web Manga That is Really Interesting Chosen by One Million People!) 2018 award under the male category this November.

So this is like Baki but less disgusting? I'm down for that. Going on my PTW

You know, as someone who reads the manga to its most recent scanlated chapter (which is woefully far behind the raws) this is EXACTLY what Kengan Ashura is.

Though I have been told it gets into some superhuman powers stuff later in the manga, but like I said, the English scanlation is woefully behind...

Has potential to be good but the premise and art style have me thinking other wise. Lets see who gets the pleasure of working on this one, shall we.

After a little bit more than 2 years after the voting they're finally announcing it. I totally forgot about that lol.

Depending of the staff and whats airing with it during its season i might try it

hell yeah, super hyped for the badass main male he is the epitome of manliness

This looks manly as fuck, it also has a beat em' up and fighting game feel to the art. It feels like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, King Of Fighters, or Street Fighter.

Fuck yeah, a great ultraviolent martial art manga getting an anime, nice !

It'd been so long I assumed the fan contest ended up meaning nothing and that nothing would come of it.

Boy am I excited for this.

Ah I remember this awhile ago. I still read the manga every week and really curious how they will adapt this.

Maybe Madhouse will take the project. The artwork reminds me of All Out.
