The adaptation will cover stories from both the Itou Junji Kessaku-shuu (Junji Itou Masterpiece Collection) series, which spans over 11 volumes, including popular works such as Tomie, Souichi no Kattena Noroi (Souichi's Selfish Curse), Kubi no Nai Choukoku (Headless Statues), and Frankenstein, as well as the Ma no Kakera (Fragments of Horror) story collection. Stories to be adapted by the anime will be announced at a later time.

You're a bit late to the party, my friend.

Oh boy, I hope they put a lot of effort into this. Can't wait.

This could be either really really good or go horribly wrong. Honestly Ito work could be made into a cinematic piece, why it hasn't yet is beyond me.

Oh yes Tomie.

Maybe Deen can adapt Ito better than Ufotable.

Oh my god!!! I'm really really excited but... I just feel like the horror elements found in Junji Ito's works can only be appreciated in manga form. I hope they could be creative enough to pull this off. Idk... good luck to Studio Deen.

Why? And how will this work?

Not everything needs to be adapted into a TV series (or is even suitable for one). I think most (if not all) of Itou Junji’s works would fall into that category... I honestly can’t see this ending well, but hey! good luck to anyone involved in the project.

Also... Couldn’t they choose someone more fitting to direct horror instead of the first person they stumbled across?... Nothing in Shinobu Tagashira’s work resume says good things anything about her ability to direct a series like this. I guess they had to pick up from the few ones available that were willing take on this absurd project... So be it then...

I wonder if they will adapt Tomie too.

I just want more of Junji Ito's work to be animated so i'm happy.

Junji Ito's grotesque stories work with his amazing, detailed artstyle, I really can't see it working with any kind of animation... Plus I still remember Gyo ;(

Wow adapting Junji Ito's works in 2017.

Expect some half assed animation, probably a short, and a comedy OST in the back.

After the announcement of Devilman Crybaby, an adaptation of a Jiro Taniguchi manga and now this i'm starting to think that maybe Japan is getting some good taste recently.

This made my day. I love everything Itou Junji and can't wait to see Souichi and his family animated. They're fantastic.

As long as they don't do what the anime version of Gyo did, I think this might be a good. Hopefully.....

Gyo has an ova by studio that did Fate Zero.

While that's true, I found it to be a poor adaptation to the manga. I didn't mind changing the lead to the girl and having the boyfriend suffer instead, but I hated the addition of the two friends who served no real purpose other than to give us an unnecessary threesome scene and frenemy garbage.

If they stick to the material, then I have high hopes for this. But I'm also worried because Gyo wasn't good. And even though it was done by a different studio, I still have that worry at the back of my head.

*TRIGGER PTSD LEVELS INCOMING*

Jokes aside, hopefully it turns somewhat okay. Though Deen can do some good stuff recently... well, except for The Reflection.

Dead on arrival.
You do know that Deen's made some really good stuff recently, right? And the director has worked on more stuff then just Diabolik Lovers (though he's a better animator than director).
