TMS Entertainment announced at its booth at Japan Expo on Thursday that a fifth Lupin III series is in production. The new series will take place in France—titular character Arsène Lupin's home.

The previous installments of the Lupin III series are based on the manga by Monkey Punch. The series has received various anime adaptations since it was published in 1967. Produced by TMS Entertainment and Telecom Animation Film, the most recent anime adaptation, Lupin III: Part IV is the first TV anime since Lupin III: Part III ended in 1984. Lupin III: Part IV was first broadcast on August 29 via Italian television channel Italia 1, before premiering in Japan on October 1. The TV series ran for 24 episodes and took place in Italy and San Marino, featuring Lupin in a blue coat.

edit: nobody seems interested about this news here...

well Lupin is an old franchise like Gundam that both have decreasing fanbase as years pass by

I don't know about the anime fandom in general, but I personally just recently got into the Lupin franchise and have been having a blast watching it. I love the characters (especially Jigen) and how the series shifts in tone and style throughout its various incarnations. So I can't wait for part five and what it'll bring to the table.

@Sazanami-Kai It's still interesting to watch the early episodes of the first show (before it focused on "adventures"). You would even get to watch the group meet a future regular character for the first time.

Every title related to Lupin I've seen till now has been fantastic so I don't doubt that I will enjoy this one too.
I'm also glad it's in Europe again because it's such an underused setting and seeing European architecture in anime has always been a very nice detail for me.
