Winners of 21st Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Announced

The winners of 21st Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize have been announced in Asahi Shimbun's Morning newspaper on Tuesday. The nominees were chosen from the works serialized in 2016. The presentation ceremony will be held on May 31 at Hamarikyuu Asahi Small Hall at Tsukiji, Tokyo.

Grand Prize: Hana ni Somu (Fusako Kuramochi)
New Work Prize: Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu (Haruko Kumota)
Short Work Prize: Yomawari Neko (Kaoru Fukaya)
Special Prize: Osamu Akimoto (Finishing 40 Year Long Serialization of Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo)

Instituted in 1997, Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize is an annual manga prize awarded to mangaka or their works that follow the Osamu Tezuka manga approach.

I hope the Grand Prize winner will be licensed or picked up by some scanlator groups. It looks interesting.

Damn, how can a manga fly under MAL's radar for 6 years, then snatch a Tezuka Grand Prix out of nowhere ? Interested in reading that but can't find any translation of it.

showa got even more awards...wondering how much the volume sale since i don't remember it...

gran prize series look interesting... 2 josei, 1 shounen, and 1 seinen... look josei rolling...

Hana ni Somu looks pretty neat. I almost though Kochikame was gonna go on forever.
