TV Anime 'Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu' Cast Members and Theme Song Performers Announced

The cast and theme song performers for the upcoming Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu TV anime was announced at the "Touken Ranbu" stage at AnimeJapan 2017 on Sunday. A new teaser for the anime has also been revealed to show the anime's fight scene. The anime is slated to air in Summer 2017 on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and MBS.

The key animators for the series were also listed, namely Masayuki Kinihiro, Masaru Kimura, and Mitsuru Obunai, who are all known for their work in the Kara no Kyoukai series.

Izuminokami Kanesada: Ryouhei Kimura (Kuroko no Basket)
Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki: Kento Hama (Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru)
Horikawa Kunihiro: Junya Enoki (Digimon Adventure tri. 1: Saikai)
Aizen Kunitoshi: Seiichirou Yamashita (Orange)
Tonbokiri: Tooru Sakurai (Gin no Saji)
Namazuo Toushirou: Soma Saito (Akame ga Kill)

Well, by this logic, Mikazuki and Kashuu should be the obvious choice but if there is a reason, I was able to observe that Touken Ranbu adaptations (live actions, musicals) then it's because they focus on a certain historical sequence which the characters are known for. Shinsengumi stories are the most common (which Katsugeki will tackle probably). Kogitsunemaru has but one legend and can only affect other Sanjou swords, but then again it would not have much impact as a historical show.

You need to fix the casting, it's not Aizen Kunitoshi who's voiced by Yamashita, it's Yagen Toushirou. And it's Tsurumaru Kuninaga voiced by Soma, not Namazuo Toushirou. (Same voice actor, different character, Aizen and Namazuo haven't been announced for Katsugeki)

I don't trust ufotable to make a decent story, but I'll watch it for the action scenes anyway.

Well considering they separated the SoL stuff and just the fun and left that to Hanamaru (the Dogakobo version of Touken Ranbu) then most likely yes.
