A display at the Chinese streaming service bilibili's booth at AnimeJapan 2017 revealed on Saturday that late author Tomohiro Matsu and illustrator Kentarou Yabuki's Hatena☆Illusion light novel will receive an anime adaptation.

Synopsis
Fresh in his first year of high school, Shiranui Makoto comes to Tokyo to seek an apprenticeship under his parent's acquaintance, world famous Illusionist Mamoru Hoshisato. Ever since watching a performance by Hoshisato and his wife, Makoto had always wanted to be a Illusionist. Incidentally, the couple's daughter Kana (nicknamed Hatena), was also his childhood friend. Though Tokyo is a constant source of many strange and chilling incidents, Makoto isn't too concerned since Hatena would be by his side

At the Hoshisato residence, a haunted mansion, Makoto receives a warm welcome from the butler Jeeves and the maid Emma, and meets Hatena once again. However, as much as Hatena welcomes his arrival, Makoto discovers that they don't really get along anymore. (Source: Animesuki, edited)

Hatena☆Illusion began publishing under Shueisha's Dash X Bunko imprint in November 2014. The novel has four volumes in print, and remains incomplete due to Matsu's death in May 2016. The latest volume was released in November 2015.

Seriously, what is the fucking point of making an anime of this when the author is dead?????
My head hurts from this

Because Yabuki-sensei has dedicated, huge fanbase who will buy anything that incluses his art.

As if they need to finish it all and do it exactly like the LN?
They can animate parts of it then make an original ending.
And this can also be a way to thank the author for his works.

Well when u put it like that I guess it isnt so bad
Thx for clearing that up

Incomprehensible gibberish of a synopsis and a cover with a generic girl wearing a dumb costume.

I could not be more disinterested.

Eh....I don't have good good impression on what this looks like so far. Might be my guilty pleasure when it airs.

Author of Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! though.

Guilty Pleasure here I come! Anything drawn by Yabuki Kentaro to anime is something I would check out.

Yep, you could it loudly say that...xD

Well, I can't await that, I've been waiting for...

Though, I guess it'll be a cour (12/13 ep.) production, due the incomplete satus of the original LN series...>_>

Makoto admires magician.
Magician is friends with Makoto's parents.
Magician has a daughter.
Daughter who's name is Kana (nickname Hatena) is childhood friends with Makoto.

It's strangely worded for sure, but it's not incomprehensible.

Thans. Was tired as shit
But reading it again, they´re saying that hatena is his childhood friend as well as the couple´s daughter, the only couple described being that of makoto and maeve. Hence my confusion.
So i thought like± ´Shes his childood friend...but also his daughter?´

Had to read through it slowly and carefully as well.
The couple is the magician (Mamoru Hoshisato) and his wife Maeve.

´The synopsis is worded pretty awkwardly, or is my English just THAT bad? Who is childhood friends with who? WTF is going on? Huh?

But, oh well. At least we´re getting a new series in Yabuki´s artsyle (hopefully)

I believe this is the second anime adapted from dash x bunko line up (first was rokka no yuusha in summer 2015) and also probably the only other title which sold enough to warrant getting an anime...?

I didn't understand shit from the synopsis except that it looks generic as fuck. Especially:

beautiful thief

Whenever a LN synopsis use the adjective "beautiful" to describe a women, 110% chances are that she will be the bland main heroine.

Anyways, don't know who the author is but rest his soul.

Mar 24, 2017 11:48 PM by John_2001

Involves magic, huh? Then I read it's tagged as "Ecchi". I can imagine the shenanigans.

Either way, this might be fun. Will watch!
