New 'Free!' Movies Announced

It has been announced at the Free! Starting Days event held on Sunday that the previously announced Free! anime will be two-part recap movies. Titled Free!: Timeless Medley, the first part Kizuna will recap the story about Haruka's trouble, while the second part Yakusoku will recap the story surrounding Rin's trouble. The movies will premiere on April 22 and July 1, respectively, and include new scenes. STYLE FIVE will perform the theme song titled "RISING FREE."

In addition, a special anime sequel titled Free!: Take Your Marks has also been announced for screening in Fall 2017. The story will take place during spring before the graduation and will consist of four stories.

The Free! series is based on the High☆Speed! novel series written by Kouji Ohji and illustrated by Futoshi Nishiya. It has received various anime adaptations by Kyoto Animation, with the latest one being the prequel movie High☆Speed!: Free! Starting Days, which premiered on December 5, 2015.

Since it's movies, unless Crunchyroll announced that they will make them available, you will have to wait a long time until BD or DVD comes out.

HYPE, HYPE, HYPE!!! I am so pumped for this! Free is by far not the best anime out there, but it's one I enjoyed a lot! It was so funny, inspirational and even a bit emotional at times; it was such a good break from all the gore anime I had been watching at the time T___T Not that I'm saying gore animes are bad; I love them (otherwise I wouldn't have been watching so many in the first place...).

I would totally recommend the Free franchise to anyone who hasn't seen it yet!

I've been expecting this as a full movie but NOPE!! Pretty much slap in a face to me.

OT: Assumimg theyll actually have new stories & perspectives and won't just be anime recaps I'm looking forward to them!
hopefully in these we could maybe get to see the high school High Speed boys and adult Natsuya too? That'd be a dream as well.

A Hyouka movie would be majestic :O

I am so excited! So glad that there will be something new from Free! universum and I am so happy I will see Makoto once again (even when histories will be centered on Rin and Haru), I love his character :) Can't wait to see them!
