Web Novel 'Clione no Akari' Gets TV Anime for Summer 2017

An official website has opened and revealed that a web novel titled Clione no Akari will receive a TV anime to premiere in Summer 2017 on Tokyo MX. Aki Deguchi, an ex-SKE48 anisong singer under the alias of aki, announced the anime during her live on Tuesday, and that she will be performing the opening and ending theme song for the series. aki previously sung ending theme songs for Bishoujo Yuugi Unit Crane Game Girls Galaxy and Nazotokine. More information will be revealed during AnimeJapan 2017.

Synopsis
Minori, who has been bullied in all her life, on account of being sickly, poor, and so on, is befriended by Takashi and Kyouko, who want to see her real smile. However, before that could happen, Minori is hospitalized far away from the other two. After two months, Takashi and Kyouko receive a mysterious, anonymous message about a summer festival in the neighboring town.

Natural-Rain began publishing the original novel online in 2004, and East Press published it physically in June 2012. The smartphone app version of the novel ranked ninth among paid applications on the Apple Store.

I checked out some of the links. The artwork and melancholy piano tracks (including one with cicadas) makes me suspect this will stab me in the heart.

I see nothing that says this is going the idol route, idol anime usually show what they are from their first announcement.
