The cover of the Mystery Bonita February issue has announced that fantasy manga Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau will receive an anime adaptation.

Synopsis
Chakuro is the 14-year-old archivist of the Mud Whale, a nigh-utopian island that floats across the surface of an endless sea of sand. Nine in ten of the inhabitants of the Mud Whale have been blessed and cursed with the ability to use saimia, special powers that doom them to an early death.

Chakuro and his friends have stumbled across other islands, but they have never met, seen, or even heard of a human who wasn't from their own. One day, Chakuro visits an island as large as the Mud Whale and meets a girl who will change his destiny. (Source: Batoto)

Drawn by Abi Umeda, the manga began its serialization in Mystery Bonita in June 2013, and there are currently eight compiled volumes in print. It was listed tenth in the top 20 series for female readers in the 2015 "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" annual rankings.

This has been pending for approval for the addition to the database for more than a month now. Could a Mod please approve of this so we can add it to our ptw list?

Synopsis alone sounds fantastically unique.
And look at those tags - Mystery, Drama, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Shoujo?

Looking forward to it. :D

This manga is actually unique and has an amazing setting. The story and characters are unexpectedly amazing that I can't imagine it getting a faithful adaption.
I just finished reading vol.8 and yes it's still as good as the first volume was.

Calling it now, looks like something that JC Staff would adapt. Even Bones would be a good candidate. I think I'm being too optimistic here.

You will get Xebec/Silver Link and you will like it

Boy meets girl in a not so usual setting. Synopsis is nice and that cover is cool too, I'll try this one. I feel Brain's Base or J.C. Staff will get this.

I'll keep an eye for this one! The setting sounds so unique.

This would be interesting in all honesty but I am going to go for a look out for the staff for this one before even deciding to pick this up.

Sound very cool. I like the artwork; it looks like a reverse harem shoujo manga.

Sounds pretty damn interesting, even if the whole "fateful encounter" thing is the oldest cliche in the book.

Still, definitely one that seems to be worth following, so I'll be giving it a look when it airs.

The visual style of this series could work quite well for an anime. Hope they get a good studio for this but I'm pretty interested. Been reading a few chapters of this in recent months.
