An official site opened and revealed that Akihito Tsukushi's manga Made in Abyss will get a TV anime adaptation.

Synopsis
The enormous cave system, known as the Abyss, is the only unexplored place in the world. Nobody knows how deep down this titanic pit goes. It is inhabited by strange and wondrous creatures and full of mysterious ancient relics whose purposes are unknown to modern man. Generations of bold adventurers have been drawn by the cryptic depths of the Abyss. Over the course of time, those bold enough to explore the dangerous pit came to be known as "cave raiders."

In Oosu, the town at the edge of the Abyss, there lives a little orphan named Rico, who dreams of becoming a cave raider as great as her mother was and solving the great mystery of the pit. One day while exploring the murky depths, she stumbles upon a little boy, who turns out to be a robot...

Looks pretty nice. Manga does look a bit childish designs-wise so hopefully this is neither a short nor a kids show.

I'm laughing so hard atm

Could you please stop necro posting ?

This looks cool and kinda ghibli like. Hope it doesn't end up a tragedy though

I'll pass until I know it's not CG. The artstyle just reeks of ending up being full CG.

The studio never made a CG anime before, so they are unlikely to start now. This being said, I'll give it a try even if it's CG (although that would be my first).

OMG, I literally NEVER was so excited to hear about an anime adaptation. Made in Abyss is one of the best titles I've ever come across, hope they'll be able to transfer the magic on the screen adequately.

This sounds almost exactly like Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka.

They have nothing in common.
DanMachi is an action comedy about dungeon-crawling teens - level up, become a hero, impress the girl, see some boobs. Decent but forgettable.
Made in Abyss is a gritty drama about little kids (but nor FOR kids, mind you)
~~minor spoilers ahead~~

I heard theres a lot of suffering in this, can anyone confirm or deny?

It is quite a harsh tale, but it only depicts violence and suffering, never revels in it. Stuff happens because that's how this world works, not because the author thinks that spurting blood looks cool. And the catharsis of the last chapter of volume 3 is well worth the build-up. It was the first time a book actually made me cry, I can't wait to see how this emotional tsunami will play out on the screen.
Besides, most likely they'll tone the violence down somewhat and if the art is anything like the original we'll be looking at the most impressive anime of the season, easy.

Now only to wait for Hakumei to Mikochi and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou to get animated.

It looks like 3DCG. I wish that it's not true.
But in other side, it's Kinema Citrus, so it shouldn't be 3D.

I'm really a sucker for Adventure anime so I'm definitely gonna watch this. It also has RPG vibes in it which I'm drawn to.
