Light Novel 'Gamers!' Gets Anime Adaptation

It was announced at the Fantasia Bunko Big Thanksgiving 2016 event that light novel Gamers! will receive an anime adaptation.

Synopsis
This is a story that revolves around certain students and one hobby. Amano Keita is our lonely protagonist who has a passion for gaming and is friends with Uehara Tasuku, who is secretly a fellow gamer and is someone who believes his life is perfect. We also have Karen Tendou, the club president of the video games club and Chiaki Hoshinomori, who constantly bickers with Keita. This is a story filled with a non-stop sequence of comedy scenes and misunderstandings. Our chaotic romantic comedy now begins!

Gamers! is written by Sekina Aoi and illustrated by Saboten. It began publishing under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label in March 2015 and currently has five volumes in print. The light novel placed fourth under the New Works category in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi 2016 rankings.

It's been a while since I last watched this kind of show (ie. an illustrious cast relying on spontaneous comedy to entertain the audience). And I hear it's from the creator of Seitokai no Ichizon?

The thing with comedy in a cliche setting is that, it could be really enjoyable, or it could be really unbearable. Let's hope it turns out to be the former. The art looks good so there's that to look forward to. I really hope that the future authors would think up of something a bit more special to start their series with.

Just took a closer look to the synopsis, how is the protagonist both lonely and have a friend? Well I'll stay tuned regardless.

A romcom with video games sprinkled in? Count me in!

I would like the series to involve a realistic expose on gamers, especially the competitive aspect. I would also like for the series to reference some video game history.

Hopefully it's more "gamer" (competition, integrity) and less "game consumer". (pre-order/ hype culture, casuals, fanboy/girlism)

This sounds like it could be interesting, but I can't shake the feeling that it is going to be terrible for some reason. I'll wait to see what kind of reception it gets when it airs, I suppose.

I have a bad feeling about this. It seems alright, but it could devolve into being a bad LN adaptation really quickly if handled wrong.
