Special 'Black Clover' Anime to be Featured at Jump Festa 2016
Synopsis
Asta and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next Emperor Magus. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Asta could not use magic at all and tried to make up for this by training physically. When they received their Grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Asta received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Asta's power was revealed, and he received a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "black clover"! Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal! (Source: MangaHelpers, edited)

concerning the mc: his behaviour/design was natsu-ish and his "power" was naruto-ish (strong underdog).
> 90% of nekketsu shounen MC is hot blooded... none of them is exception... as for other personality, both of them are complitely different... sure both of them thick headed, but in different ways... natsu is very aggresive, very concern about his surrounding, and very easy to provoke, when aster has more patience, less fuck to give about surrounding, and harder to provoke...
as for power, as i mentioned above, naruto power is more well known in universe and not that sacret, when aster is totaly unique to it's universe and totaly mystery... because of that, he is actually looked down because how rely the universe with magic and everything measure with magic (unlike naruto)... MC does actually have reason to looked down...

> typical "weak" but strong character (naruto+natsu)
- naruto is estabilished to weak, but has hidden power in his universe coming afterwards...
- natsu estabilished to be strong in his universe (thou not OP)..
- aster estabilished only has strong phisical in magic world but granted "unusual gift" since beginning
> the rival was the typical strong/talented guy (sasuke-ish)
the rivalry is anything but sasuke... there is no grudge againts juno and aster... both of them respecting each other and admitting another side power.. only both of their pride that made them not being honest about it.. no harm and violance done in their rivalries which make them feel fresh more than most rivalries i experience (like naruto, MHA, DB, ao no excorcist, fairy tail, ETC)
you does judge them generic and agree it was ripp-off thou which is i don't disagree with...
the ripoff-part was something i've read in the comments. i've quoted it because i thought it was funny that someone claimed it to be a ripoff of two other ripoffs. it was wrong to simply use the term ripoff after that as well. sorry about that. it should be obvious that i don't remember much.
concerning the rival: i thought he gave off a sasuke-vibe. i guess my memory was wrong or i had a wrong impression
concerning the mc: i should've written it clearly. even i would've misunderstood my own post by next week.. his behaviour/design was natsu-ish and his "power" was naruto-ish (strong underdog).

you already stated how "generic" it was in your post... of course i feel disagree because what i feel is fresh breath of air when reading black clover (even i would admit the plot is not that special), but character make this series for me, whcih i found not generic...
ofcourse there is the time you should stop reading, and the time when series tarting to piking up... treated every series have same standard is where i am not agree with... i just feel 15 chapter don't picked it up yet for this series... ofcourse everyone have their own standard and evryone should so,
but use quick judgement for a series to determeined overall series quality is something that i have problem with...
it's been too long to actually remember the characters but wasn't the protagonist the typical "weak" but strong character (naruto+natsu) while the rival was the typical strong/talented guy (sasuke-ish).
i guess we simply have different attitudes towards reading manga but as i said: i don't think that the series was "bad". i've judged the series based on the available chapters at that time. i may reread the series at some point but the priority is not very high

the problem is you jusge the whole series solely based what small amount you read when even yourself clearly saying it's your own prefference...
sure series need to catch audience prefference, but you need to realize it does need time, and every person and series treated them differently...
judging a series is always based on the own prefferences. i "disliked" the first 15 chapters or to be more precise: i think those chapters and everything presented in them was average (my personal score was 5/10). i don't hate the series i just think that i could use the time for a better manga. i haven't heard anything positive (or anything in general) since then (except that the series is doing well in the rankings) which could motivate me to give it another chance (e.g. when people talk about one piece they often recommend to read until a certain arc and say that they started loving the series after "a rough/slow start").
once i've asked someone wether catching up would be worth the time but the response was "if you didn't like the start you won't like the rest".
tl;dr: i don't hate the series - i just don't see the point in reading it (yet)

> judge a wsj series that usually desgned to be long run with 15 chapters...
MAL never stop to amaze me...
even a long running manga is supposed to catch you within the first chapter (that's why the first chapter is way longer than a normal weekly chapter) or at least in a very early phase. i liked neither the premise nor the characters hence i don't see the point of reading a manga with a bad base (not in general but for me). there are manga i've dropped much earlier which i don't regret dropping and manga i've dropped much later that make me think that i should've dropped it a long time ago and used the time to start another series (e.g. world trigger which is on my PTR)..

it's been 15 months since i've read the first 15 chapters hence i don't remember anything "special" about this series. i was referring to someone calling black clover a ripoff between naruto and fairy tail and thought that statement was funny since those series are ripoffs as well.
i don't remember if black clover was a ripoff of a certain series or just generic..

if you want anything special, go read world trigger... if you can bear how big and detail information try it make..

a ripoff between two ripoffs? considering how generic the first 15 chapters have been i actually think this is a valid statement..
tell me how it is rip-off... it sure your usual hot blooded action shounen, but no, it's not just simply blatantly take another series plot... i don't know why black clover got attacked soo much when many series do the same as well...[/quote]

Heard this manga was terrible, but I'll still watch this.
Can't be worse than Taboo Tattoo or Big Order at least.
