Yeah. Something like the Taika Reforms, or the Meiji Restoration would be REALLY interesting to see. And not just "HURR DURR NIPPON THE GREATEST COUNTRY EVAR" either, I want it to be taken in a realistic way, that show a story of humans beings or our systems. I know almost nothing about Japanese history tho. So there could be even more stuff to explore outside the Reunification of JP
This influx of Nobunaga anime stuff really mirrors some of the rising Nationalism that we're seeing in the media nowadays though. Even if Japanese mainstream society is becoming more liberal (according to a friend of mine, who's a JP conservative), the government, and for some reason, the Otaku demographic, seems to be becoming more and more Nationalistic. We see this with Gate, all the military moe shit (Girls und Panzer, Kantai Collection), and all the historical stuff getting adapated.
No idea how representative this is outside a very small group of people who fund the anime industry tho.

You really should play a normal version of Nobunaga's Ambition.

Man. Japan just have an absolute hard-on for Nobunaga don't they? It'd be like us making a cartoon every year for George Washington.
