Editors of Shueisha's Dash X Bunko publishing label announced on Tuesday that light novel author Tomohiro Matsu has died at the age of 43. The editors said that Matsu died suddenly on Monday, May 2, from an illness but did not specify further.

Tomohiro Matsu is best known for his debut work Mayoi Neko Overrun! and the recently completed Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!. Both works were adapted into television anime series in 2010 and 2012, respectively. He was also involved in overseeing the script of Queen's Blade: Rurou no Senshi.

Matsu is known for his prolific writings, publishing a new light novel volume approximately every other month since his debut in 2008. At the time of his death, Matsu was writing Hatena☆Illusion, which has been publishing since 2014 and released its fourth volume last November, and Isekai Kazoku Hyouryuuki, whose first volume was released in January.

Aside from his writings, Matsu has also been a staff member of the semiannual Comiket doujinshi fair since high school. He recently contributed an article for the 40th Comic Market Chronicle, which was published last year at Comiket 88 to commemorate the fair's 40th anniversary.

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!, es una de las series a las que vuelvo cada vez que necesito sentirme como en casa y saber que el autor murió es un golpe extrañamente doloroso. Mil gracias a este hombre

I sure do understand you, I posted here when the news came out, but now that I m seeing the anime, it feels like reality is so more real this time around, and like it really clicked in, he dead, forever gone. It is a lesson we learn over and over again, we may curse eachother, hate and even fight, but we have to keep ourselves together and fight our individualities, because one day, each and everyone of us will be forever gone too, and that reality will keep engulfing us more and more, until it is our turn, so we have to treasure the time we have together as precious vanishing memories that they will be...

(nice shinobu signature, like it is diving inside my soul and judging me)

Seriously WTF is going on! So many news about young LN writters dying these past 6 years, specially around the age of 40's. Like are then taking drugs or something to keep up with it?? Is cancer just targertting them in specific, or it is just revengefull otaku nerds on the run with an knife?! You gotta wonder, since you most of the news about deaths, just seem to come from these folks.
RIP

It's always terrible, when people die so young...

I liked PapaKiki quite a lot, such a cute story. I'd love to read light novel version someday as well.

RIP

We are going to miss Tomohiro Matsu for his great work. Even though I haven't read his novels, the anime adaption was great but now it's time to read the originals.

RIP.

Sad to see a few prominent people dying young because of disease these last few months.

That's so sad... He was way too young...

I have yet to read any of his stuff or watch the adaptations, but I've always been interested in seeing Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai eventually. It's a shame that he won't ever be able to finish two of his works.

Rest in peace. :(
