TV Anime 'Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibougamine Gakuen' to Air in Two Parts

NBCUniversal Entertainment has announced at AnimeJapan 2016 that the upcoming TV anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibougamine Gakuen will be split in two parts. The first part, Mirai-hen, will begin airing in July 2016.

Mirai-hen features the main characters of the original Danganronpa game, which was adapted into a TV anime in 2013. The second part, Zetsubou-hen, will feature characters from 77th graduating class of Kibougamine Gakuen, who are featured in the Super Danganronpa 2 PlayStation Portable game. An airing date for Zetsubou-hen has not been scheduled.

An official website opened on Thursday with character designs from the Mirai-hen series. A new promotional video released at AnimeJapan reviews the story of the Danganronpa franchise.

@Black_Bandit21 The story writer for the games has stated that the DR3 anime is like a thank you present to the fans of the games. My guess is that the anime will assume you've played DR1 and SDR2, so there will probably be no summary and lots of references you won't understand. Even if there was any sort of summary, the main focus of the second season would be on the cast's origin stories, so it'd be short and much less impressive than if you experienced it fully from the game.

If you can't get the games on steam, there's complete playthroughs on youtube of the english and japanese dub. It's a bit of a time investment but knowing the story of the second game will definitely be crucial in understanding the upcoming anime. Increase the speed of the videos in the options if you have to, though it'd take a bit away from experiencing the voice acting.

Sigh, Looks like I'll to watch the walkthroughs of the second game on youtube or something.

Never played any of the games but i honestly don't feel the need to considering how bad the anime was.

Confused as hell. Glad these games are out/releasing on PC so I can play them before this airs otherwise I'd be lost not having a second season. Should be good anyway.

That's a stupid thing to do, considering the second part is dedicated to the cast of the second game.

You will need the play the second game to have an understanding of both parts. The first part happens due to the events of the 2nd game, and the second part is a prequel(?) to the second game.

It takes place even before the first game. So probably prequel to everything.

So from what i can gather is that the 2 season will be Originals where the 1st one will be about basically the 1st survivors & Future fundation vs the world,
while the 2nd one is more like a prequel of the second game explaining the moment when, how and why the Characters from the second game.

and then to make things complete, there is a 3rd Danganronpa game in the making which is not involved with the Anime and previous games right?
