Third Chapter of 'Digimon Adventure tri.' Opens in September 2016

At the Shinjuku Wald 9 premiere of Digimon Adventure tri. 2: Ketsui on Saturday, it was announced that the third installment, Kokuhaku (Confession), will open in Japanese theaters on September 24, 2016. According to seiyuu Junya Ikeda, the story of Kokuhaku will be more mellow compared to the lively second chapter.

An audience member uploaded to Weibo a snapshot of the theatrical poster for the third installment (pictured), which was teased at the premiere screenings. The poster features two of the main DigiDestined characters, Koushirou Izumi and Takeru Takaishi, and their partner Digimon.

Digimon Adventure tri. was announced in 2014 at the franchise's 15th anniversary celebration. The first installment, Saikai, opened in ten theaters last November and earned more than 230 million yen in the Japanese box office. The series features new character designs by Atsuya Uki.

The Blu-ray and DVD of the second chapter will be released on April 2, 2016.

Considering that Patamon is always the last Digimon to evolve, I'm sure we won't see Seraphimon so soon.

Is it just me or do we also see Meicoomon (evolution?) in the poster. It looks like the form we last saw Meicoomon in.

So there will be plenty of gold colors next movie eh? I hope it'd get better. It seems a little not the Digimon that I know. Feels like watching a slice of life anime instead of the digimon adventures that I watched as a kid.

Although the CG evolution would've been better off using a 2D animation than this new one.
