How is Higurashi an "Alternative Setting" to Ookami Kakushi?

Actually, Ookami Kakushi is an alternate setting to higurashi. (Ookami wasn't out when Higurashi was around).

It's an alternate setting because the storyline of both Higurashi and Ookami Kakushi are so alike.

All of Ryukishi07's works are alternative settings to another one of his works. (Umineko is an alternate setting of Higurashi also).

So... the stories have something to do with each other just because they're similar and have the same creator? I don't think so :/ I mean, Higurashi and Umineko are related because they (are implied to) share characters and whatnot, plus being from the same series "When They Cry". But as far as I know, Ookamikakushi doesn't share any characters with either.

Nnngg... that cast has me a bit worried. I didn't like 07-Ghost or Lucky Star all that much, and looking at Umineko as an example of what can happen when Ryukishi's work gets butchered... ugh...

Still, I hope getting this away from DEEN will help at least a little, and the return to the village setting will make this feel more like Higurashi, i.e. actually good. Here's hoping for the best.
