Popularity = Sales. Any popularity outside of that is meaningless. And it's sales in the US are so minimum that it's not worth generalizing the west by it. The only factual thing here is that France is the biggest manga market in the west, so trying to claim a manga is popular in the west while completely disregarding it, makes little to no sense. The west =/= Murrica
You just don't realize how small the US is. These one punch man volumes won't sell more than 30k each, despite being on the list so much. While in France if they get the top spot they would reach 90k-100k.
I don't really care how you perceive me, so give this ''hater'' crap a rest.

The US has a 'big' anime market so it's not incorrect to say that OPM is popular in the west. And what little manga market still left in the US is clearly being influenced by the OPM anime.
And wait, apparently the manga isn't even available in France yet...? It's pretty presumptuous to say its not popular because you haven't seen it anywhere, and yet its not even available yet.
''big''
Yes it is incorrect. Will see what it will do in France, then you can say it's popular on the west.
I say 'big' because it is big relative to the size of the US market, almost as big as AoT when it came out. But also it is very big in western internet sites, reaching to places I would have never expected like many Twitch streams by streamers all over the world. So no, I don't have to see what happens in France to say anything, France isn't the Anime/Manga capital of the west... I will tell you factually right now, OPM is very popular in western internet sites that are composed of people from all western countries. I mean, just look at MAL for starters.
Dude, I don't understands why your hate of something has to dictate what is factual or not. Just because you hate OPM wont change the fact that it is popular anymore than the same applies for what I hate.

Not really. US =/= West.
It's nowhere to be seen in France, which is the biggest manga market in the west. Will see what it will do in France, then you can say it's popular on the west.
I agree.

Ouch, and now Magus Bride is no where to be seen.
From going from no. 2 to out of the top 10 really emphasises a small change in sales numbers can make a difference.

OPM hasn't even been released in France in the first place anyway lol (will be, next month). Pretty sure it'll be very popular given all the buzz and the popularity of its anime in (legal) streaming sites. And yeah the US is the Total opposite of Japan. Anime>>>Manga. AoT and the recent DBZ movie for example have sold more discs in the US than they sold in Japan

Hmmm, 15 weeks, OPM is still #1 after four months, that's incredible (but also sad for the market XD).
*4. Tokyo Ghoul Vol.1
Man, 26 weeks (6 months) with most of those being in the Top 5 or 3. This one is really pulling an AoT. Talking of,
*8. Attack on Titan Vol.1
117 weeks, dang! And it's about to enter into its third year of Top 10 domination. My Neighbour Totoro has made over 750 weeks (and still counting) in the weekly Oricon lists (DVD). Can this one pull that?
I'm thinking the best selling volumes this year will be:
1. Attack on Titan Vol.1
2. Tokyo Ghoul Vol.1 (Can still one up AoT, but the latter was available six months earlier than TG).
3. One-Punch Man Vol.1 (It also has a slim chance to top TG but it was released three months after it so that's unlikely).
4. Naruto 72 (Can easily beat OPM but has been handicapped by a later release, though it's possible it might have sold enough in its first few weeks to offset that, due to "finale" hype).
5. Assassination Classroom Vol.1 (Don't think it'll beat any volume above. Will probably sell half of the lowest selling volume above despite its early release).
Glad to see One Punch Man at the top! I still need to get my own copy of OPM but my local bookstore is always sold out XD

Can't wait for the Dec 13-19 list.
I hope to see Gundam's last volume taking the top spot.
I think snk volume 17 is out. So chances are slim.

Who gives a shit about western internet sites? Are you serious.

+1
And I thought in 2014 that Attack on Titan Vol.1 sold more than Millions of copies but in the end, it sold more than 50k. What a shame :P
