Novel Author of Kaze no Stigma Passes Away

According to Fujimishobo, Yamato Takahiro, the author of Kaze no Stigma, passed away on July 20th. He had been suffering from Leukemia. Kaze no Stigma novel ended incomplete.

The final volume of Kaze no Stigma novel will be released in March 2010. Fujimishobo collected the remaining manuscripts of the side stories and will release it as "Kaze no Stigma Ignition vol.6".

No, if Yamato Takahiro finished his work before his death we would still be sad because of the loss of a great author -even if we may just call him "the author of KnS". Let's compare him to the author of Zero no Tsukaima, who also passed away recently. Even though he finished his lifework, people were mourning his death.
"I am more sad about the fact KnS is unfinished rather than his death" is probably a mixture of feelings of unaccomplishment and sadness. We knew the author through his work, yet it stays unfinished. But don't worry, your sadness isn't solely based on the unavailability of a potential completion. It is rather based on the loss of a person we only knew through his work.
Even if he did finish his work, we would probably still write in this thread because we liked what he imagined and created.

I'm usually quite bad at explaining what my mind meant but this pretty much sums up most of what I wanted to say about that.

Nobody said that it is selfish. The main contesting point is when you said "I am more sad about the fact KnS is unfinished rather than his death" - so what does that mean? If the author had finished the work you were less sad???

Exactly, we partly know the author and what he imagined through his work, but we don't know him as a person. He certainly had a great imagination by thinking up such a great story.
Also, finding it sad that he didn't complete his lifework is less selfish than you think. The author himself might have felt the same way. His imagination couldn't be fully adapted into his work. This reminds me somewhat of Tolkien: He was an incredible author, yet he couldn't finish his lifework. People didn't really know him, but respect him even today because of his works. Same goes for the author of KnS: We may not have known the author as a person, but we do know what he created and respect him even in death.

That is not my question though. I was not asking why you don't feel sad now. My question is, if KnS were indeed finished (which assume you would know the man as you read KnS) and then he died, you would have been less sad since you wrote "I am more sad about the fact KnS is unfinished rather than his death"

No, that means if what you said were to happen I wouldn't even know he died since I wouldn't be looking out for news regarding the series (and the man in question himself).
Like I said since I don't even know the man I can't really be sad. And why would I? There is absolutely no bond between us, I don't even know what kind of man he was when he was alive, all this piled up means I can't feel sorry he died as I cannot feel connected to him in any way other than through his work. I don't know how he was in his private life - maybe he was a great guy and if I knew that I'd probably cry myself to no end but since that is not the case I just can't.

I know it sounds completely stupid to say this after four years, but I find it absolutely disgusting how people are only sad for his death because he didn't get to finish Kaze No Stigma, and would obviously be more happy if he just finished it before he kicked the bucket.

Oh but it is natural to think like that. We only know this guy from his work so that is what we care about. We can't cry over every single death on the planet else we would never ever stop crying. Since I didn't personaly knew the guy I am more sad about the fact KnS is unfinished rather than his death. It's a pity yeah but do you even know how many people died while I was writing this post? Yeah, that's it.

I finished watching Kaze no Stigma a long time ago and wondered why a sequel, even though the ending of the first practically called out another season (not to mention it had high ratings) was not made. It's sad when an author who had so much talent has to pass away. The manga was really nice and I could tell the author put their heart and soul into it.

Well, It's ashamed for us that the novel is incomplete although both manga & anime was aired last time in 2007 (?)..
