'Kantai Collection: KanColle' Anime Movie Announced for 2016
The list of characters who will be featured in the upcoming movie includes:
Kantai Collection: KanColle is an online, browser card-based, military simulation game. The cards are naval vessels from World War II with historical attributes. They are anthropomorphized as cute girls named "KanMusu" (Warship Girl). The game was adapted into a TV anime in Winter 2015, which ended with 12 episodes. The second season was announced during the TV anime's finale.
An official tweet specified that the sequel and anime movie are two different projects but are in production at the same time.

It could have been better for sure, but it was also quite good critique of the way Japanese waged Pacific War, showing how it should have been done. Portrayal of Midway was also super accurate until the help came (it didn't irl), even the moment Akagi and Kaga were critically damaged was on point - while changing armaments on the planes. Attention to the detail makes it a really good watch. Sadly pacing, story telling and CGI were lacking.

No, just dropped it.
Kancolle anime was a mistake, it`s a big insult to the original Kancolle game.
Yeah, don't waste your time with the KanColle anime. Better stick to the browser game, upcoming PS Vita game/mobile game if you want to actually enjoy this series. As a past player of the browser game (Dec 2013 to Apr 2014), I just found the anime adaptation so poorly done.
Most of the fans in Japan also have this view, hence this basically gave Idolmaster Cinderella Girls an easy #1 of the season for 2015 Winter season. I guess it still appealed to the anime only watchers, or it would've not averaged over 10K considering how it had close to 0 enjoyment factor for most fans of the series.
You know, maybe they should actually bundle more sought out bonuses such as in game items or ships with the BDs this time, to level the playing field... because its sales were still really good but was just vastly under its potential.
Hmm okay thanks, I'll keep this in mind and play the game (whenever I have time lmao).

I should finish the KanColle series first I guess.

Just wait until Fujoshis are getting hungry for it.
it would be much better if the script writer actually played touken ranbu game from DMM.
They actually have historical backstories which is exciting. I don't really care much for the yaoi ships in it. They're really aesthetically pleasing though.
It's only inevitable. It's really popular, including merchandise-wise so I don't see how it won't get an anime adaptation sometime in the future.

I hope your wish will come true.
If it gets anime adaptation, the studio should hire Script Writers who actually played the game.
I`m a fan of Kancolle and i`ve been playing it since late 2014 and i`ve been disappointed at the anime adaptation just because the script is garbage, the truth is the script writer haven`t played Kancolle game and it`s complete bullshit.
Imagine if touken ranbu gets anime adaptation and it was wrote by the script writers who haven`t played the game, that would be a horrifying trainwreck and many fujoshis will be disappointed.

Still, featuring these new ships is fine and all, but just where are MUH SUBMARINES?

Ugh... Well I'd rather watch a movie than another season, so I'll probably just go with watching this.
It will come one day, just wait.
Think after how the KanColle anime was received by the fans, companies are going to think twice about making a Touken Ranbu anime.
It's still 2nd most popular franchise in Japan, 2nd to iDOLM@STER and in front of Love Live. Of course it's much due to the game, but as long as the fanbase is willing to pay for seeing their favourite shipfu, the anime/movies can be made. We all know how fanbases work, so :) Also, Blueray and DVD sales were quite high, so it couldn't have been received so badly.
Also, on another note:
According to folks in Akihabara and Den Den Machi (Osaka's Akiba) 2nd season has been postponed for "sometime after the movie", so might be cancelled depending on how the film fares.
