The official website of the Summer 2015 series Overlord announced that each Blu-ray and DVD volume will include one mini anime episode featuring SD (super deformed) characters. The first volume, which will be released on September 25, 2015, will contain three episodes. Customers who pre-order the first volume from Animate, Gamers, Sofmap, or Toranoana stores will receive a bonus A3-sized clear poster.

Six volumes of the Blu-ray and DVD will be released for a total of 13 episodes. The first, fourth, and sixth volumes will contain newly written stories by Kugane Maruyama. Additionally, the second and third volumes will contain special audio dramas, and the fifth and sixth volumes will contain soundtracks from the series.

Overlord is an adaptation by Madhouse of the light novel series of the same name, written by Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. It begins airing on July 7.

If they want good sales they should start by producing something good. I'm seeing "harem" in the genre tags so I'm afraid. At least, there's no ecchi (I hope).

But I read in another thread that they don't care about disc sales so idk if it's rly the reason.

Despite whatever you'd like to believe, there are no studios that don't care about their sales. To me, this seems more like Madhouse only expecting a small return of profits.

In a lot of cases, with late night tv anime, they are only hired to do the animation.
They don't see any of the profit.

As i expected it's a 1-cour...hopefully it turns out good in the end.

Itadakimasu!!
Yea, they probably wont include that, but well.... I'd probably die laughing first if they animate that and the assault scene with anime Albedos facial expression.

Also, I wonder if they're going to rush like that to Vol 8 but with 1 episode= 1 Volume formula nothing seems impossible.

actually.. the "harem" genre increase the sales in japan not decrease it..
just look at how that garbage ass absolute duo surpassed death parade's sales..lol
i watched both and Absoutle Duo is something more fun meaning more ppl would want to buy the BDs. While Death Parade had a corny plot and a horrible first half. Only the ending saved that shit. Having a harem tag doesn't mean shit, its all about how good the certain anime is excuted. Ur acting like anything with a harem tag sells well when that isn't true….

Juuou Mujin no Fafnir was a harem as well and sold as much as Death Parade. Maybe just maybe japan isn't as brainwashed as u think they are. They don't buy every shit under the sun. Besides the sales for AD wasn't anything special. So ur entire statement is wrong.

I didn't say all animes who has "harem" oe "ecchi" in the genre tags are shits..all I said is the harem/ecchi genre make the anime sells more than some other animes even if it has a "trashier" plot..
in other words.."Increasing Sales Using Sex"

cant wait to the anime :)

I'll be looking forward to this more than the actual TV anime. At the very least, I'll enjoy some short supposedly comedy skits. Or maybe even better, explaining the lore and structure of the world.

Wow this looks gorgeous. I wonder how they're going to handle all that juicy juicy gore though.... especially in Vol 3 where people are literally being torn open and stuff.

Well not getting my hopes up but you never know.

That poster looks good, but then again that’s nothing to be surprised for Limited BD releases. Lots of series, especially those based on light novels/novels do this all the time (+ other extra goodies). It’s all about if the Japanese find the content produced by the studio worthy of their money, or not. For what I’ve seen, Madhouse doesn’t seem to have a good track record selling their own stuff.

Honestly all the PVs of that series released so far look pretty subpar, so I don’t feel confident about it (I’m not even sure if I’m going to even watch it at this point).

I hope you’re joking. As a business, they should definitely care about how well their products do in the market (promotion and product selling). That’s of course if they don’t want to go under in the future. But then again I don’t know Madhouse, so what should I know.

I just can’t see the people in charge of that studio being like:
“…well if it sells…. great, if not, so be it….. It promoted the material fairly well (not great though), so I guess there is no need for us to worry. Plus, even though sells were abysmal, we still made a bit of profit. After all, who needs more money to run things around here, right?...”
Although hearing that would be kinda funny, it would also be pretty sad.

Confirmed as 1 cour...no surprise there imo.

I'll look forward to the regular show but having mixed feelings on it right now.

True and depressing, especially since Absolute Duo as far as harems go was 'Absolute shit.'

This type of stuff isn't that rare and it usually doesn't improve sales that much and it's still Madhouse so...

of cours it does improve sales..I think..in this one at least..I mean who wouldn't pre-order the first volume just to get that A3-sized clear poster..? I mean the art is so fu#king good..:3
