Upcoming Anime Series 'Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu' Gets OVA

A scan of the front cover of a flyer distributed at AnimeJapan 2015 revealed that the upcoming TV anime series Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu will be getting an OVA. The flyer also mentioned that the anime series, which will start on April 4, will run for a total of 16 episodes.

The series is adapted from Puyo's official spin-off manga of Nagaru Tanigawa's light novel series Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. Serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine starting in 2009, the manga series has seven volumes in print.

The story is set in the alternative universe depicted in the anime movie Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu, where the SOS brigade was never formed. In this world, Yuki Nagato, who began developing her feelings for her clubmate Kyon, is a quiet and shy girl rather than an emotionless artificial human.

I CAN'T WAIT. I wish they would do more haruhi, but I guess that's either not going to happen. I guess I could buy the light novels that have been translate into english. I mean, I still get a lot of the initial 'kyon's thoughts from those which pretty much made me love the series. Not so much haruhi.

As I can say, there will be almost no Haruhi. Main characters are Nagato and Kyon. Haruhi is even in another school, so it will be episodic character.

16 episodes and an OVA. Much better than I thought! I may be too excited for this, though. I've gotta calm myself down so I don't disappoint myself.

Kadokawa was probably thinking the same thing when they decided to go with Satelight instead of KyoAni this time.

16 episodes and an OVA? I'm super excited for this. I was wondering how much the anime would cover but with this they could get up to date pretty nicely if they wanted too.

News like "xy gets ova" are hardly worth mentioning as literally everything gets at least some kind of special...

I'm still waiting for news like "Anime xy doesn't get OVA bundled with a random volume!"

Think manga publishes every month and its SoL so that amount sounds about right. Better properly produced than crammed in a single cour.

Just saying that it's an unusual choice for a TV anime, not that it is bad. In fact, more anime should've followed this example instead of trying to cram more contents than they should have in a given episodes resulting in a bad adaptation. I can already see Yamada-kun being butchered by a rushed adaptation this Spring.
