I wonder how many volumes they'll adapt

It's usually 3-4 episodes per volume for a generic LN. Although it may be even more per volume for Rokka due to the sheer volume of content in each volume (I mean SAO milked 6 episodes per volume, like damn really?). I just bought the 5th volume and haven't read it yet but a decent cutoff point would probably be volume 3 if they decide to do 1 season worth of the anime (Although I really loved the 4th volume out of the ones I read mostly due to the fact it touches Adlet's side of the story a little more). I mean if they decide to go for 2 full seasons, I wouldn't mind that at all.

Nice, and right when I started reading it a month ago.

Though now the surprise and suspense is gone, haha...

Most of the reactions from the LN readers at the anime announcements both on English and Japanese boards are the same, saying that this won't be properly adaptable in anime.

Well, it's a tradition in the royal family to have animal ears/horns on the helm, like goldof who's a royal soldier has horns on his helm as well. Before reading I though that Nashetania was actually a rabbit girl like KuroUsagi from Mondaiji series x).
Still wondering why cow ears for Rolonia though. Although that's kind of fitting her placid personality, she isn't related in any way with the royal family of that country.

I haven't seen reservoir dogs then, so cannot tell. Although the movie seems quite interesting~

BTW, the mistake I pointed out earlier in the news is still not corrected~

I don't think this series is going to be particularly well received for a number of reasons. Mostly, you're going to have a bunch of people knock it just because it's a light novel adaptation (regardless of whether or not they have read the series or any other light novel) because it's like the cool thing to do. Also, I just can't see this making a good anime, I don't really know why I think this but between characters nyaning constantly and characters spending a lot of time discussing stuff rather than killing each other I think people won't enjoy it. But at any rate I am excited because the forums will probably be a good laugh since I've already read the novels. *Spoiler* Nashetania is a carrot thief.

P.S I suppose you could compare it to Reservoir Dogs but I wouldn't do that. The tone, characters and settings are all too far apart so you should probably just take it as its own thing.

yay another generic shonen action "fight to the death" anime

Except it's not a shounen, and that last time I checked, a fantasy setting with proper mysteries (including a locked room mystery) and psychological with an unknown betrayer in your ranks (including a part in enclosed space) is everything but generic.

I don't know what they will make of it in the anime, but the original material at the very least is about as far away from generic for a fantasy work as you could found. Even the divine powers from the Saints are fairly interesting, like power of the swamp, power of salt, power of words, of fresh blood, and so on. The main enemies are very interesting as well. Manipulative, understanding people's psychology, they play with other's feelings, inciting betrayal, despair and suspicion.

It's the first Tarantino movie (and one of his best ones imho) about a bunch of criminals who need to find a traitor amongst themselves after a failed heist.

I haven't seen the movie either (I plan to).
But in the LN they try to find the imposter during the "heist" (i.e. quest). So it's not like one of them is secretly sabotaging their plan. Everyone knows that there is one enemy among them.

will be reading the novel next year for sure and watching the anime also

Seems like my previous post was missed by the staff.

So again : the op is wrong, Rokka no Yuusha's author isn't Toru Kei, it's Yamagata Ishio.
Toru Kei is the author of that "manga adaptation" of the LN.

Can you compare it to the movie Reservoir Dogs?

Sorry, I don't think I ever saw a movie called reservoir dogs, so I can't~
