[Update 7-1-13] Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama To Start A New Series in Shonen Jump

Announced recently in Shonen Jump, Dragon Ball's creator, Akira Toriyama, will be starting new series called Ginga Patrol Jako in the 13th July issue.

Update July 1st
It has been reported that this series will be featured in Viz's Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine under the title "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" starting in the July 15th issue.

1) The manga is called Dragonball, not fucking DBZ. People should get it through their thick heads already.
2) Imho he is better suited for comedy than for action (see Dr. Slump, a really popualr comedy manga that gets shafted by most Western fans for reasons unknown to me)

Geez, Toriyama is one of the most popular mangaka of all time and yet most people know jack shit about him...

Most of Toriyama's Manga are hardly even one shots.
And he's only about 4 years older than Togashi of Hunter x Hunter and Miura of Berserk.

The guy who's so sickly his assistants abandoned him and the guy who will die before finishing Berserk. Not the best comparison.

That's great, Dragon Ball was my first manga and I still like Toriyama for his many projects (mostly art design in Dragon Quest video game series).

It's probably one-shot or short series. If it crosses 50 chapters then i will say, Toriyama is serious again.

...Only caught a glimpse of the thread title at first: "Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama..." then my page refreshed and my heart sunk because I thought it was saying that he died.

I'm excited for it. I mean, with his most recent one shot I felt like he was underestimating the current industry with the simplicity of the story, so I hope he dedicates himself to this.

Didn't Sandland run for a while? I mean I highly doubt he even really needs to work at this point. DBZ is still out there making money. I imagine he still does stuff because he enjoys it? Well, I hope.

It seems pretty interesting. DBZ was, and is, my first and favorite anime & manga I've watched/read. I'm excited to see how this turn out.
