Light Novel 'Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta' to be Animated (Confirmed as TV Series in Winter 2014)

According to the newsletter of Gagaga Bunko, the light novel "Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta" (Love Song of a Certain Pilot) will get an anime adaptation. No more information is available yet.

The light novel is part of the "Hikuushi" (Pilot) series and has 5 volumes altogether. In fall 2011, another novel of the series, "Toaru Hikuushi e no Tsuioku", was adapted into an anime movie of the same name. "Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta" took place in the same world but at an earlier time.

Sigh...you would think because I liked the movie a lot I would be more interested in this one but alas...

I particularly liked the animation in the movie, and I have a feeling the animation in this series will not be comparable to the movie...I could be wrong though.

Also, the character designs are, well, how should I put it...not my favorite.

Anyways, I'll probably try to give this one a shot since I liked the movie so much, but I don't think I'm going to get my hopes up too high...On the other hand, I would like to see more good drama romance shows in the future, so if it is good, I do hope it does well.

So airing time is moved back from Fall 2013 to Winter 2014.

With Yuuki Aoi and Taketasu Ayana both in the main cast, I wonder if their new singing unit "petit milady" will sing any of the OP or ED...

Perhaps this will be more entertaining than the movie since they'll have time to flesh out the themes. As someone who has never read the light novels, the ending of the movie is horrible when you really don't care enough (nor does the movie even bother trying) about the world to feel good about our two mains going off to correct prejudice.

Plus, no 3 sentence epilogue. Its got to be better. I wonder if the dogfights will be as cool though?
