I can't say much about the part 3 adaption (other than I know they changed a couple of things and left stuff out), but it's probably a good idea to watch in chronological order, so 2012->2000->1993.
Even better than that would be to just read the manga.

So it looks like this covers part 1 and somebody guessed that could be done in 13 episodes. Do we know how long this goes? Would be great if they cover part 2 as well.
As for part 3, in many ways it'll be impossible to top those original OVAs, they still hold up. But hey, tons of Jojo to cover.

If people take to Jojo, there's a lot of ground to cover (I'd be happy - set for years).

I'm so excited to see how this turns out! I'm a newbie to the series only seen the OVAs but those 'bizarre' fights sure were a blast. Hope we get to see much much more as apparently saying their is enough material to animate is a huge understatement.
There's PLENTY of material :D The manga's been running since 1987 ^^

Can't wait for this, I was really hooked throughout the Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency arc's, and I'm saving up to buy the English release manga's which cover the Stardust Crusader arc (REALLY want to support this amazing series), so I know it'll be good. Heck, I'm even saving up for the JoJo PS3 game as we speak XD it's going to be brilliant~~~ <3

goodbye record holder for the highest amount of volumes without an anime
You do know that there is an anime already, don't you? Actually even two, if you include the Phantom Blood movie. (even three if you consider the part 3 adaption was done in two parts)
Even if it wasn't that great, it still count.

TOKI WA TOMARE.
But we'll get a (hopefully awesome) WRYYYYYY. Although I can't quite imagine Koyasu Takehito as Dio. But the guy is remendously talented, so I'm sure he'll pull it off somehow.

It also makes sense from a production point of view, since it's by far the shortest part and can easily be covered in probaly 13 episodes.
I'm still afraid that this is going to be all we get. I highly doubt that they will adapt the whole series. Because who would start another 300+ episodes show nowadays? :(
