The commencement of the animation project for the second season of Chihayafuru was announced by the wraparound jacket band on volume 17 of the manga series.

O my O my O my O my , WOW chihayafuru second season wow in 1/2013 I didn't expect it to be this soon since the manga is advancing pretty fast I CAN'T WAIT THIS IS AMAZING NOW THAT I KNOW THAT IS COMING SOON IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT CONCENTRATING ON ANOTHER ANIME OR MANGA

and For those people that said and thought that the second season wasn't going to come out I wasn't confused I just had to be patient because chihayafuru ending was incomplete I totally knew that there was going to be a second season I'M JUST SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT COULDN'T WAIT AND SAW THE MANGA BECAUSE NOW THE SECOND SEASON IS GOING TO GET SPOILED I DIDN'T EVEN WATCHED THE MANGA AND WAITED WELL

Its been a while since they announced the secound season, why haven't we heard anymore news? Does it even have a release date? I can't get my hands on any information :( I really hope that it comes out sometime this year, I need some more karuta action! (I just want the fat queen to get owned XD)

One of the best anime of all time getting a second series? There is justice in this world! After all, Bakuman has 3 series' and counting, and that's borderline garbage! I was so worried that Chihayafuru would pull a School Rumble on us. I'm so psyched! :D

I find it ironic. The only reason as to why I watched season 1 was boredom. But now season 2 is one of my most waited series!

I'd say that the anime did a very good job showing how much skill karuta takes by showing the enormous skill gap between new and veteran players.

I started reading the manga after watching the 1st season. But it might be the case that I won't remember what happened in the chapters that are gonna be animated when the time comes...

I remember being disheartened by people constantly saying that a second season would not happen due to poor sales, etc. I guess miracles do happen!

It made my day to hear this news. I only hope that the second season will live up to the standard set by the first season.
