Director Kawamori Shoji To Produce a TV Anime of Idol Group AKB48

According to Oricon News, a TV anime of Japanese idol group AKB48 was announced to be aired from next Spring.

Draft Character Designs of the anime

The voice actresses of the nine main characters will be selected from all the 200 members of AKB48 by an audition. General Director Kawamori Shoji said it will be a touching story with comedy, songs and dances.

I actually don't mind the series, I watched season 1 in 2 nights, it was ok - not exceptional, but better then I thought I would be. The second season isn't bad either, it's a good time killer

I'm not impressed with the character designs. I think Idolmaster and LoveLive have better character designs than this one. I was actually expecting a somewhat realistic proportion for the characters(kinda like Amagami characters) since this show is somewhat based on real people. And what's with the story? Sci-fi+Idols? Wouldn't it be better if its set in the modern world so people can easily relate to the characters? And I was hoping they would tackle the issue about gross handshaking practices of some idol otakus during meet and greet events that the real AKB48 idols experienced.

Anyway I guess I will still watch this show...

OP and ED have been announced. Both songs will be performed by the new sub-unit NO NAME, which consists of the 9 members chosen for the lead roles: Watanabe Mayu, Nakaya Sayaka, Sato Amina, Ishida Haruka, Sato Sumire, Iwata Karen, Yagami Kumi, Sawako Hata, and Mita Mao. The opening theme is "Kibou ni Tsuite" and ending theme is "Yume wa Nandomo Umarekawaru".

That's what the main male character in the official manga AKB49: Rules Against Love had in mind initially, until him following his crush to an AKB concert changed his mind.

Read that manga first, as it's clear you have little idea how the system works.

Idol Otaku are call wotas. That's why i said the person misued the term.
however~ not all idol fans are consider wotas.

There is a such thing as an idol otaku and those variety of folks can be far more obsessive than anime/manga/LN otakus, but pale in comparison to VN/Eroge otaku.

beside their fanbase is really diverse. They're not supported just by otakus bro. right now it's the teens and the adults who are supporting them and I doubt the majority of these adults are otakus.
Beside wtf is with people mis using the word otaku? Otakus aren't interested in 3D girls. the term of idol fans are wotas but not every fans are hardcore enough to be consider wotas. just like how not every anime nerd is hardcore enough to be consider otakus. stop misusing the term~

not going to argue the casting is full of lolis lookers even tho the youngest is probably Mayuyu at 17 going 18 the end of this month. Tho I think they just look lolis because of they downgrade their looks to make them more girl next door.

Any way I meant the actual AKB48 as a whole isn't really lolis like Maeda Atsuko, Shinoda Mariko, Akimoto Sayaka, Miyazawa Sae. The only lolis in that group come from Team B, which is where most of the voice actresses doing this anime come from.
but anyway yeah as an anime, it look moe...kinda disappointed since the designer did Macross Frontier. I hate the moe style..

in the anime their design in the anime moe tho considering the storyline and the people working on it idk how moe it will be...the script writer worked on Toradora, Black Rock Shooter and Ano Hana with the producer worked on Evangelion 1.1
