1. People aren't hating on it. They are just criticizing the fact there are BETTER selection choices
2. People pointed out slow action and censorship makes this series bad
3. The cultural department us handling it. HOW is it related to the vulture more than dome others that could've been selected?
1. haters are hating and saying stupid shit. All the government did was provide the financial aid to an international project. They had very little impact on what a separate committee aka "experts" chose from a pool of entries that were willing to do international collaborative works.
2. What does the series have to do with the movie. Seriously show me the links. All I'm seeing is winging about the series and things that they didn't like that most likely will not even be in the movie.
3. The whole scheme is about international collaboration. Whatever stupid thing you like and want isn't the point. Its about promoting the media industry abroad.

They could've used that money to produce a second season of Hanasaku Iroha, a show that already helped boost tourism in Japan!!! Or they can give it to A1 pictures so they can produce an anime with the same quality as AnoHana...
I think this is some sort trap/setup made by the government. They'll purposely help produce a violent show so that when the moralists criticize the movie for being gory, violent, sexualize, crappy, etc and use it a representation of the anime industry as a whole. The government will then be forced to amend the bill or stop funding anime shows completely...
