There's also the issue with the studio...the only thing they've done so far is Carnival Phantasm which has been done well but those are just OVAs. Who knows how well they'll do a TV series. I can't say that I'm looking forward to this adaptation but I'll watch it and compare it to the novel regardless.

It seems like the director has done some pretty QUALITY shows.

Yep, like Katanagatari and Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

That is a nice counter, but there's still quite a bit of fanservice shows under his belt. Regardless, I'll watch it.

You're already at the wrong route if you decided to research the overall current anime by visiting sankaku. Recently I only watched 3-4 anime per season, and all of them are with minimum fanservice. Just ignore the fanservice anime and you can got some good anime, which are enough for me.

Btw, I have heard many good things from the VN. Yes,it is eroge, but if they have other good points it shouldn't have no problem to keep the story with no echii/H... (Kanon is an eroge but the story went perfectly even without any fanservice at all, leave alone H)
although the rate of that case happening is sooo small.

Fate/Stay Night is an eroge as well, and that became a pretty popular adaption.. and the amount of actual hentai in MajiKoi is closer to Fate/Stay Night, where theres only like 5 or 6 actual hentai scenes in the entire thing. I wonder if people wrote off Fate/Stay Night originally as just some "dumb ecchi show". Just because it has attractive girls as the focus doesn't mean it'll be mindless fanservice the entire time.

Sankaku I read purely for amusement. The articles are typed with the intention of making people laugh at the stupidity of both the anime industry and those that support it. But it does also provide some insight into the content of the latest anime offerings and what nudity was censored for DVD-only 'fun'.

The thing is, it isn't just fan-service/nudity that's my problem: it's the disturbing focus on school girls and the moeified 2D versions of them that otaku fap over. Since I'm 20+ and have gone through more cultural festivals without actually experiencing one myself than is good for my mental health, I have little desire to watch the antics of miniskirt-wearing teenage girls at length. And my distaste for such things, as well as seeing dull, average guys get lots of 2D tail, has made it crystal clear how few anime feature adult leads and maturity.

Don't get me wrong: there are still a good few titles coming out each year that are worth watching. However, they don't sell well, are often overlooked and are few in number, in comparison to the moe/perverted rubbish.

...Anyway, Sentai need to hurry up and die - again. Their randomness is equal to that of ADV. At least Funimation license titles like Phantom as well as rubbish.

Whenever I glance through Sankaku, look what new anime will be airing or see what's being licensed in America, I start to feel like I'm out of place. Mindless fan-service; DVD-only nudity; Harems; School Girls; boobs over plot/characterisation--that's practically all that's being reported. One glance at ADV/Sentai's latest random license tells me all I need to know about it. Unless it's as twisted as Higurashi or Saya no Uta, leave out the porno novel adaptations/licenses - please!

My top ten/highly-rated anime and 90% of the rest just don't go together. It's so bothersome that, recently, I found myself hunting down fansubs of anime from 20-30 years ago.

It's those that buy DVDs who are to blame - those otaku known for having hissy fits over the purity of 2D characters. Quality doesn't sell: what sells is what panders to the fetishes of virgins. The world and the people in it are pathetic...

Isn't even out yet and they license it, wait Sentai. of course this is from the same company who licensed RKB after ep 1.

Hmmm this is unexpected... i thought no-one was going to licence this show until atleast it aired but i guess Sentai Filmworks Must have their Reasons.

Guess i'll see what happens when this airs hopefully not to much randomness and fan service to spoil the anime atleast.

I don't care how good the VN is supposed to be, the anime will be a plot-less mass of censored tits & ass no different than any other mindless ecchi show out there. Just wait and see.

I wonder if the people who come up with such deceptive names like "Oh! Samurai Girls" for Majikoi actually bother to research even a little bit about the show they're renaming.

Duh, a series with TWO out of 5 female main characters who use swords (one of which isn't even Japanese) is obviously enough to get the title ....come on man, get a clue.

Licensing this already? Even if they are businesses, I'm really getting tired of how money blind these licensing companies are getting. They don't even care about the quality of shows anymore. Well, on that note, when have they ever?

Fun fact: No companies care about the quality of the shows. They care about the potential to make money out of the shows. Anime like this likely has a low licensing fee, and if Amazon anime rankings are to be believed, boobs sell over here as well, so its a safe investment.

Quality doesn't always sell and what sells is not always quality. That's the name of the game and the business of the business. Sad, but true. This could be an alright show, don't clamor down anyones throat just yet. And even if it's not, companies that go belly up don't produce ANYTHING, quality or not.

I honestly don't know what to think about this one. The premise interests me and the multiple guys make it feel different from a normal harem scenario... could go either way I guess. I'll keep an eye out. It's interesting if nothing else.

Sentai Filmworks has licensed one of the most boring-looking anime of the upcoming season before it even airs in Japan.

Do they have money to throw around or something?

Boring? Do you know anything about MajiKoi? Theres a reason its been one of the highest priority fan translation VNs the last year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mFs1u9yYX0

Sadly they're likely only going to be able to do the True Route since its only 12 episodes

That looked pretty boring to me. The only unique thing is that the harem centres around 4 guys, instead of only 1. Unfortunately, most of the girls have the same shaped face, with different hair and eye colours.

They probably should have waited to see how it does before licensing it for DVD release.

Only one girl actively likes a guy, and it's usually for comedic relief. + the majority of characters aren't strictly linear.

Well American audiences also include some hardcore otakus as well.

Anyway, I thought the illustration style looked a bit fanservice-y. Then I realized the illustrator of the manga did some hentai manga before... I'm not sure about the direction this is going though...

Its based on a popular hentai game.

The "prologue" has no ecchi/fan service at all. The end of the second halve is where most of the hentai is. So they shouldn't be able to screw it up that badly if they only animate the first halve.
