Oh my gosh you people, it HASN'T EVEN BEEN DISCLOSED WHETHER IT'S MIYAZAKI'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY OR SOMEONE ELSES. Quit getting excited for the wrong thing.
(There was already a documentary filmed about Studio Ghibli a while back)
...Do you know what the definition of 'autobiography' even is?
Also possible someone in Japan confused the words Autobiography and Biography.

My own searching seem to tell me that nothing was said to clarify if it was an autobiographical film or merely an adaptation of one. Translations can be iffy and the statement was not exactly long and everyone is being tight-lipped.
Ah, okay. I didn't really bother enough to look any further than this post about it, so I was confused about the argument over his own autobiography vs. an adaption.

A Miyazaki film without a female protagonist? Wonder when the last time he did sth like that was... sounds interesting...
If it doesn't, then his last would have been The Castle of Cagliostro (That Lupin III move), and the last using his own characters as opposed to a pre-existing franchise would be Future Boy Conan. Yeah. We are going way back here.
I'm pretty sure every Ghibli production (Both Lupin and Conan were made before Ghibli was founded) with a male lead has been directed by Isao Takahata or one of the other Ghibl directors, with the exception of Princess Mononoke.
The pig in Porco Rosso was a chick?

Reports I've seen elsewhere have just referred to it as an "adaptation of an autobiography" so who knows what it's really going to be.
