It's HILARIOUS when you have an fan of TV show X telling people other series suck
All fandoms have these types of fans. Jeez, do you live under the rock?
He's right though. I really shouldn't have even had a conversation here on why I don't like it. Opinions though, even I have to deal with them.

Thats one problem I have with the Japanese. Most of the popular shows are how you described it. Now what bothers me is the direction anime might take because of Japanese tastes.
A market moving according to the tastes of its target consumers is exactly how business is supposed to work.
And you're exaggerating somewhat. T&A fanservice shows tend to sell decently, but most of them are *not* the 10k+ major hits that define a season. Unless you have a much broader definition than I do of T&A.
I might be exaggerating a bit. /a/ does stuff to people.
Fixed
As for whether it's poor adaptation, well, that's opinion but I wasn't a fan of what I watched of the second season. I'll stick with Railgun for my To Aru fix.
The beginning was adapted good but they rushed the end which was supposed to be the best part to redeem the rest of the season. I just thought it would do better. If you are gonna stick to Railgun you should read the manga for it if you want story. If you want to continue index by reading the novels in English contact my profile.

More in the " I never hear one good thing about it" sense like Dragon Crisis.
Sometimes, Western fandom and Japanese fandom don't agree on shows. Japan loves IS, but English-speaking fandom seems more mixed.
Thats one problem I have with the Japanese. Most of the popular shows are how you described it. Now what bothers me is the direction anime might take because of Japanese tastes. Its slowly happening but if you notice that every season (at least to me) a person picks 1 or 2 shows that they watch because some are boring and the rest are fan service. I personally think that people buy the DVD for Charlotte because she was a good character.
I myself think I might have something to do with my fav series "Index" not doing so well but that is the shows fault itself for doing somewhat poor when it was airing. It is also one of the most popular novel series.

This doesn't make sense.
In a "I don't like it so it shouldn't sell well" sense (which people kinda need to get over...), or in some other way? First volume sold 7.8k first week and this volume is almost exactly the same.
More in the " I never hear one good thing about it" sense like Dragon Crisis.

This doesn't make sense.
EDIT: This post and the follow ups are my opinion and shouldn't change others ideas. As someone pointed out I was being rude towards IS.

Good to see it selling <3
Same thing as Sket Dance too - the AoEx OP is by a massive mainstream act, UVERworld. Most people buying it have no idea what AoEx is. They're buying it because it's the latest Uverworld single, so its sales are not a reflection of opinions of the anime. It's only really anisong-only singers (often seiyuu) where that matters much, and even then not always (Mizuki Nana will sell a lot even fi the anime isn't popular, e.g. Dog Days).
And quit it about everything "sucking". What is your problem? Just focus on the things you like instead of bitching like a kid about everything.
^
THIS.
Aside from Ao no Exorcist being a popular anime; UVERworld is a great band with a good amount of fans who are willing to support them. The OP is decent so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't sell. The same goes for the ED since it's sung by 2PM who are also pretty famous and are supported by a big amount of fans.

What? If you think so it doesn't mean anything. Anime isd good and ED is great(it's The Pillows, man).
And as most of people here wonder about Madoka sales. Would it beat BMG?
