4Kids Gets Sued By Japanese Producers For Illegal Transactions of Yu-Gi-Oh

According to the Hollywood Reporter, TV Tokyo and the advertising agency Nihon Ad Systems (NAS) have terminated the license contract of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series with 4Kids Entertainment and have sued 4Kids for illicit transactions. 4Kids allegedly manipulated the accounts and paid a significantly smaller amount of royalties to TV Tokyo and NAS than they should have paid. For example, 4Kids had hidden their contract with FUNimation and more than 45% of the package sales from the two Japanese companies. 4Kids had been holding the worldwide distributing licenses of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series for more than ten years and has earned $152 million.

1:12-1:36 for kanji editing
3:30-3:41 for name changing
5:28-5:58 for death censorship
the rest are just for Sonic( start from 5:55) and Pokemon(8:48)

Good riddance. I've always hated them for this heavy censorship and westernizing the character's original names. I hope to never see another crappy eng-dub of an already well made anime ever again.

I wonder how Funimation is involved, I think they didn't know 4Kids was fudging the numbers.

Once upon a time watched Sonic X as my first anime, then I was pissed when I found it was censored and I pirated got the subs for it. :) So I don't know whether to be happy that a company that ruins anime is getting slammed or sad that the company that introduced me to anime is getting slammed.
