a lot of these reviews are based on personal taste and it kinda rubbed me the wrong way so here i am.

the short of it is that i enjoyed reading this. it's mature, but not gritty; fun, but not dismissive. i recommend it to anyone with a strong stomach and a mature mind. keep reading for a more in-depth review.

quick background to help explain my reasoning: i grew up reading trashy and harmful bl with every toxic trope you can imagine and enjoyed it. as i matured, i started to see those faults and my tastes have changed accordingly, HOWEVER, i can appreciate unsavory plots ... and events (i.e. rape) without condoning it and distinguishing it as fiction as opposed to reality.

onto the review: there's nothing about this story that is in any way groundbreaking, nor is it paced particularly well. that aside, the characters are believable, the main couple is interesting and, while still problematic, fairly well-written. overall, i enjoyed reading it and i found the characters endearing.

as for the more unsavory aspects, i see them less as "coming out of left field" or an arbitrary means to an end -the catalyst for the relationship, and more as a grounding point. it serves to add consequence to an otherwise consequence-free setting. it is a little like "fridging" or lazy character development, but it IS some much-needed character development; namely for Asaichi. it serves to give him a period of reflection and become believably vulnerable. the subsequent relationship also does not immediately "flourish". while rushed, it at least MAKES SENSE in the context of the narrative.

No. Just no.
First of all, I do not like yaoi mangas with intense sex that have goofy characters, humor and "goofy" art style combined with said goofy humor. I just don't find them entertaining at all so I knew immediately that this manga was not going to be well loved by me. I don't like the plot and I don't like any of the characters. One guy is an asshole while the other one would literally throw themselves under a bus for the asshole guy and I ain't buying it. So many yaoi mangas today have these exact same characters in a romantic relationship and ... its just lazy writing in my opinion. My "favorite" mangas are the ones that have a rape scene that is just completely brushed off and serves as a way to bring the characters together. The sex scenes between the two main characters can also be seen as very rapey which isn't really a surprise since the characters are, I quote, " One guy is an asshole while the other one would literally throw themselves under a bus for the asshole guy".

An appalling work by an atrocious author. I have never seen something so bad. I honestly wish that the rating system could go lower for this manga so that I could give it a zero in every category because only then could I be one-hundred percent honest in this review. The art being the only exception to this across the board score of zero and which was the only part of this manga which was handled with any form of wobbling, butcher-like coordination.

The review system says not to write spoilers, but my reasons for rating this abysmal manga so low must be ... given. In this manga one of the characters, who is a singer, is brutally raped and it is filmed and this is used as a plot device to bring the two characters together into a relationship. His rapists, after his rape, are given tickets to the music group's future shows. And his subsequent interactions with these rapists depict him cowering, but it is depicted as a sort of moe, like the reader is supposed to find his fear cute and the subsequent intervention of his beau heart fluttering. These dialogues are not taken seriously and are played purely for laughs and moe.

He even apologizes to his rapist's sister and it is treated like his rape was deserved, which is just disturbing to me that pen ever met paper and wrote this.

It all comes off as disgusting. A demoralizing and frightening work by an abhorrent, brutal, (apparent to me now after reading this work) fetish author. There is nothing in this manga that could be worth anything to anybody. You would absolutely be wasting your time reading this manga. I would say this manga is for no one with any moral values, not even for those with amoral ones.

However, it can be said that this work is one of a kind. It stands in a league all of its own as I have yet to encounter another work that has been so singularly vile, poorly written, and disgusting. Truly, save yourself some time and read another manga. You will never regret making the decision to read another manga instead of this one.
