May God have mercy on your soul if you are planning to read this manga. And if you do, don't expect him to.
The synopsis of AneChika!! certainly tries to warn the reader of what to expect, but it merely scratches the surface of the depravity displayed. One might assume that the incestuous relationship of the main duo is the primary theme of the story, but that is only a front for the true focus; the twisted extremes of human sexuality.
If it was ever even an issue for you in the first place, the author forces you to forget about the much-debated moral question of consanguineous
...
relations by thrusting much more unambiguous degeneracy into your face. While the type of reader who enjoys such material might not be particularly averse to chuckling at the public debasement of the self (of which there is plenty), the reader's sensibilities might still be challenged by shocking instances of emotional child abuse, wanton disregard for personal boundaries, invocations of bestiality and cannibalism... and frankly, the list goes on.
With that all said, the purpose of AneChika!! is not to cater to the sadist demographic, nor is it to mindlessly shock and disturb. Unfairly slighted characters are given their due, and the love underneath all the gratuitous sexuality does provide for the some heartwarming scenes. These serve as moments of clarity to an otherwise insane comedy that will have you cackling into the darkest pits of the human mind, reminding you that you were indeed not mistaken to be taken aback in previous chapters of the story.
If you are both a fan of absurdist comedies and unfazed by taboo subjects, AneChika!! is worth giving a try given the short chapter length and the entirely passable artwork. Just be aware that as of this writing, unfortunately only 70 chapters out of the full 123 have been translated to English.
