I recently brought this manga called Megane Ouji, or in english "Four-eyed prince". I didn't know anything about this manga, so i was really excited when it came with the mail.
When i first looked at the book i noticed the drawing style on the cover. I though that the drawing style was really cute! Normally you would see boys that has a really long face and really small eyes to make them look "boyish". But with this book, the boy on the cover had this cute and pretty look that is both boyish and more chibi like.
I guess the drawing style is sorta like Tokyo
...
mew mew mixed with The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, but still unique in it's own way.
Oh! and i really like the cool "megane" style the boy on the cover has! x3! ehm.. anyways..
When i opened the book i noticed a lot of small cute little hearts and stars.
First, the book gives you an explanation of the honorfics in Japan, which i find very usefull. And i actually haven't found another book that tells you what ALL of them means.
Shortly after looking at the pages, i started reading the book.
And i must say, that this book already got me hooked at the first story page!
It's common in mangas that we first start hearing about this girl who just starts at a new school and we get introduced along with her. But in this book we start hearing about a love confession, that goes horribly wrong, and breaks a heart.
After the confession we get to know a little more about our "main" charachter. It's a girl named Sachiko Ohashi, Aka. Sachi, who's totally in love with a silent boy, who they call "The four eyed prince" (oooh! now the titel makes sense!! :D)
But Akihiko (Aka. The four-eyed prince) does not like Sachi at all, and acts rudely towards her.
When Sachi suddenly takes off to live with her mother, she finds out that Akihiko, actually is her new sibling, and is forced to live under the same roof with him.
I'll be honest with you, this has become one of my favorite mangas. It has some cute boys in it, and a crazy flatchested girl, that is surrounded by those boys! so lucky!
My favorite character.. i think it's Akihiko, since i think cool "megane" manga boys are hot... i'm so wierd i know!
Akihiko is the silent, cool type, which is a character i just fall in love with so easily!! x3
But then i found out that he had another personality, and i was like "OMFG!! He's even more awesome now!!! Cuz' he has this rude tsundere like side AND a flirty side x3!!" so yeah, i guess that's why he's my favorite. I also like how much his looks can change if he takes off his glasses.
But i can't hide the fact that the "Mean boy" Aoi Izumi, was very close to being my favorite character. It's just sad he has such a short appearance in the first book.
Alrighty, my least favorite character.. that's a hard one!
But there is no doubt that it's the "We love glasses" club. Argh! those girls are so mean! You'll find out ehy in the 2. volume, if you read it that is.
The story in this manga is the very old "Girl in love with boy she can't get, but kinda ends up getting anyways" story, which is kinda sad.. but of course, there is a lot of things that makes it different from other stories.
The ending was lovely too!
So anyways, if you seem interessed, then i think it's worth your time! I must say, that i enjoyed it more than i thought i would. I just couldn't stop reading after the first page, and i ended up reading all the books the same day i got them! xD
Thanks for reading this, now remember this is my opinion, and we might not share the same thoughs about it, so don't hate on me please! And i'm sorry if my english is bad, i'm from Denmark.
