Synopsis

Forever haunted, a boy sits in a room. Alone. Telling tales of horror. One by one. Night by night. The shadows breed terror. Shall we begin?

One day, an elementary school child named Yuuma tries to jump out of his classroom window. His classmate Hina stops him and, in a bid to stall for time, asks him, "Do you know the round of a hundred ghost stories?" Hina tells Yuuma about a ritual where, if you tell a hundred ghost stories, you'll see ghosts afterward. Learning this gives Yuuma a new lease on life. Great anthology horror series with great art not trying to be overtly graphic to sell a shock factor. The narrator of the story is unique and I always find myself slightly uneasy with how calm he always is with everything going on in the house. I'm intrigued about the plot going on with he narrator as well. The most recent chapter I've read since writing this (ch 40) has had the best outro to date! As of writing this and as far as I'm aware I am caught up on the series and eagerly wait to see what is coming next!

Really good horror anthology series with both an interesting narrator/storyline and pretty interesting stories. Each story is pretty short but pretty unique feeling. While many of the ghosts are well known horror manga clichés the stories themselves feel original. Exactly the kind of story you'd tell around a campfire. Almost feels like a slightly toned down Junji Itou at times.

The series biggest strength might be the fact that it never goes too far off the rails - an issue many horror manga run into. This keeps the stories short, and the character's reactions shockingly realistic.

Art style wise it isn't much to write home about ...

If you like anthology horror series this is definitely your cup of tea!

Without giving away much of the main story (which accompanies little Yuuma and his life) nor the "side stories" aka the stories the kid tells us about, it's a really good anthology horror series. What mostly makes me generally have a distaste for anthology horror be it in manga, anime, webtoons, tv shows, or whatever, is the fact that the stories are disembodied, there's nothing linking them, which I know is natural of anthology series but it's something that just doesn't click with me.

Boku ga Shinu dake no Hyakumonogatari is different. Little by ...
