Judging by the cover, I didn't expect this to be anything more than the common BL trope with circumstances leading up to the "And then they fucked" moment.
Well, technically, it's still the case. But the mangaka really went the extra mile to carve out diverse facial expressions and the characters are really wholesome (and handsome). So despite the pretty much generic plot, you will find yourself invested in the story and watch out for each and every nuance of their feelings being full-on displayed through telltale gestures.
And it only gets better when you get to more intimate scenes. I'm saying this as someone
...
who has sifted through tons of BL (mid and gold alike) and the in-bed interaction in "Amaetai Kemono" is just that good to get me hooked. It's really a lovers' talk for a reasonable amount of time which is neither dragged out nor abrupt. It's just perfect for readers to process the details they are seeing with attention.
That being said, this is a fairly light-hearted story with no dramatic events so for some, it might just be a story with nothing to write home about. But if you're looking for a hot read with a clear dedication to character design, expressions, angles, and communication, you should definitely head for "Amaetai Kemono" - satisfaction guaranteed.
