I will put a spoiler warning here.
After reading about half of the chapters this manga offers, I must say I enjoy Gajuu a lot. The setting with bear like monsters in the subway is unique in some way, however, there are also many traditional horror/survival tropes and characters included in the story.
From my point of view, the characters were rather shallow and are more or less characterized by a certain trait or symbolism that they are supposed to convey, which they mostly do good.
What makes this work good is on the one hand the art, which portrays a rather gory and dark story, happening in
...
a confined and narrow space. Up until now, I could really feel the built up tension and suspense, created by the artwork and clearly told story.
What makes a good survival/horror manga? Tension you can almost grasp. And this manga has it. If you are a fan of horror or thriller type mangas, I would definitely recommend it to you. Thumbs up!
