Kuroyuri-sou no Henna Ikimono (The Strange Creature at Kuroyuri Apartments) is a strange case of a two volume short with a comedy format that would be used in a longer-running manga.
The story follows Meme, a young demon successor living at a free rent apartment complex where daily hi-jinks happen.
The story is weirdly average, but as stated before, concludes quickly before any development or arcs take place.
The art is above average, but also has weird inconsistencies between the chapter covers, being more detailed, and the actual panel art, which is rather.. eh?
In only two volumes, I must say that Kuroyuri introduces some surprisingly fresh
...
character concepts; also not surprising being that all of the characters are stated outright as quirky people to entertain. Out of the main characters, I feel that the mangaka, introduced in volume 2, falls short of the rest of the cast due to not having many chances to develop.
Kuroyuri could have been a much better manga if I was given the time for more characters, more plot details, and possibly an arc. I like Kuroyuri for the above stated reasons, but I couldn't enjoy it for long as it ended fast, and will likely just as fast disappear from my memory.
