Hey, a space opera mecha anime! I just love these genres of anime and this series is no exception. It has some serious potential. I thought the first episode was great giving the necessary background story. This anime also sports some great looking backgrounds. It's going to be interesting to see how this series develops.

Looked like an interesting sci-fi anime from the promo stuff I saw of it. Might check this out whenever I have the chance. :D Too bad character designs are by Hirai. XD

The mecha part in this anime kinda disturbed me but ahh, how I love sci-fi *--*! And Age himself seemed to be pretty interesting, so I think I'll keep on watching ^^

Since I'm watching Fafner I'm watching this show also.
The main mech looks badass and the enemies look cool.

...yeah, it definatly has a Fafner feel to it...with Angela singing and half of the charas looking similar^^ like it, though :)

How did the subgroub romanize the name...Eiji or Age or something else?

I'm having kind of a hard time getting a feel for this series. Though of course it's only been one episode. :) It seems to waver back and forth between really serious, high drama and goofy antics...wish it would just stick to one. And if I was the princess, I'd be getting seriously nervous that that dumb little kid was the savior and all that. :P

Ah well. Not in love with it, but willing to see where it goes!

Ok first episode. Love my space opera so the chances of sticking with it are high. So far I get a Toward the Terra meets Vandread feel. Hope its more the former than the latter.

The Nodos has very EVA'ish design to it.

I had been meaning to give this a whirl for a while and so far it seems intriguing albeit I haven't been hooked in completely. The lore seems really promising with the various tribes.

So all but one tribe is named after a metal and seems that one tribe is in this dude. I have a feeling lolaous will become jelous of age. We also got our first look at the bronze tribe which are basically bugs, but going by how one just shit its pants before dieing they arent emotionless. This anime is also very purty on bluray.

Not really a great start

Princess Dhianeila (VA: Yui Ishikawa) is absolutely precious (I'm guessing her name is meant to sound like DNA?).

It's adorable that Age refers to the spaceship as mother, as its life support system/computer was what raised him. Age's naïve personality reminds me of Goku from the original Dragon Ball, (his transformation notwithstanding), he's only known the planet, the regenerative squid thing, the trees and the spaceship his entire life so he thinks the "sun" can eat the clouds.

So he refers to the spaceship as mother but he also said that "dad" told him that spaceships would one day arrive on the planet (so he knew that the Iron Tribe would land). Age is human with the Heroic Tribe's abilities, who does he think is his "dad", is he referring to the member of the Golden Tribe that held him as a baby?

So Age can transform into a humanoidish Godzilla-like creature; the Heroic Tribe that was hidden within him. The music after he transforms also reminds me of Godzilla.

If you notice earlier in the episode, before the Bronze Tribe of insects invade, there is already a mountain with a hole in it. So this implies Age has transformed before and caused similar destruction; this isn't his first time transforming into Nodos.

The artist that did the character designs for shows I love like SEED, Infinite Ryvius, and Scryed had a part in this anime, so let's give it a shot. I just finished Rahxephon 2 days ago, so I'm sated on well drawn mecha anime that uses CGI animation subtly. Which works well because the CGI is definitely early 200os level stuff.

It's kinda crazy this is by the same studio that did Zoids and Zoids Zero, but I heard each episode of those shows cost them a fortune, so I think they deserve a pass cuz Xebec ended up running out of money. Only a little one tho, because even if Xebec only exists as Sunrise Beyond now, I'm going to hold Kyoukai Senki against them for a long time. Disappointment after raised expectations is a hell of a thing.

In any case, Xebec had a lot of middle of the road anime, so I'm hoping this one falls into the upper tier of boilerplate space opera anime. So far we got a super robot in a show with real robots(sorta), so the shenanigans should be interesting to see.

Also, I gotta keep reminding myself that a lot of people at the time thought these CGI animated graphics were the future. Sadly for me, Zoids and Zoids Zero look better than some CGI animation from 2024, so it's hard to give Xebec props.

The names could also be a lot less dumb. It is not in fact an official rule that most mecha characters have to have ridiculous names.
