tried this thread in the music addicts club but failed D:
think i might get a better response here heh
let's see what you guys come up with.

my favorite is the third solo in Sweet Child o' Mine by Guns and Roses, played by Slash.

another good one that comes to mind is the bridge of Seize the Day by Avenged Sevenfold, played by Synyster Gates.

and then of course Eruption by Eddie Van Halen is always fun to listen to.

I'll add more later but for now:

'Stricken' by Disturbed has a pretty awesome solo in it. Plenty of feeling in the playing, which can often be missing in guitar solos.

'Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart' by Stone Temple Pilots has a cool solo. It really fits in with the rest of the song due to its scattered nature.

'Little Sister' by Queens of the Stone Age. What can I say? It's really catchy and the peculiar timing just makes it so much fun to play.

'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)' by Jimi Hendrix. Do I really have to explain! :)

I do like 'Sweet Child O' Mine' as well, you've got to show Slash some love! ;)

"Oran is a sophisticated penguin." Drybananna

Totally missed this thread. ;_;

There are quite a few I'm fond of

- anything with a solo by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan
- Thoughts of a Dying Atheist and Knights of Cydonia, by Muse
- the second solo in Estranged and the solo in Don't Cry, both by Guns 'n Roses
- the solo at the end of The Mosquito Song, by Queens of the Stone Age
- the solo in Jolene, by Cake
- the opening solo in Crazy on You, by Heart
- the solo towards the end of Things We Do, by Indigenous
- the solo at the end of Rick James, by JUDE
- a bunch of stuff by Led Zeppelin, but particularly Stairway to Heaven, White Summer/Black Mountain Side and Fool in the Rain
- the solo at the end of the acoustic version of The Last Rebel, by Lynyrd Skynyrd
- the solo in the live version of King Without a Crown, by Matisyahu
- Mother and Comfortably Numb, by Pink Floyd
- I Still Remember, by Blackmore's Night
- Jacob's Ladder, by Rush
- Smooth and Put Your Lights On, by Santana
- Blue Jeans, by Silvertide
- Love is Only a Feeling, by The Darkness

I'm sure there's plenty I missed, but that's a start.

Duane Allman's solo in the middle of the Derek & The Dominos version of Layla.
End solo of Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac.
Eruption for Van Halen but You Really Got Me for context with the band.
Pretty much the whole Crazy Train for Ozzy Osbourne.
End solo of Meltdown and the solo interludes in Clones by Ash.
Put Your Lights On for Carlos Santana.

I know there is quite a bit more than that that I like but those are the ones that are easily remembered.

One-Metallica, A hard paced, high note guitar solo that just swallows you.
So cold-Breaking Benjamin, a very simple solo but still really powerful
The Calamity-Trivium, A very powerful duet solo by both the lead singer and the lead guitarist. A sick solo altogether.
"Kirisute Gomen" The Samurai's apology, "I apologize for striking you down."

Jason Becker - Altitudes
Marty Friedman - Namida

Symphony X - Seven

Lynyrd Skynyrd have amazing solo's in their songs.

Jimi Hendrix no shit Hey Joe is probably my favourite along with all along the watch tower.

Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Deep purple all have great solo's in their songs.

My favourite is probably the solo from good times, bad times by Led Zepplin
