My guess is b/c they are both the main characters and they have an interesting connection. Ichigo is a great guy, I'd like to see him with someone his own age and alive. It would be a great comedy to see Ichigo in the future trying to live a normal life and still be a shinigami in secret and trying to explain to his wife why rukia is always around.

i was all for ichigo x rukia until i saw renji's and rukia's past
