THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Everyone being this altruistic is hard to swallow (especially the selfish, mercenary Fujiko), which makes this episode kind of clunky. It was ultimately to set up a final joke, but I don't think it works that well.

The chase scene was delightful, however. The pacing and exaggerated physics were tons of fun. The trick with the magnets was also clever and entertaining.

Yeah. I guess I can say the same thing here I said in episode 30 ("The Name of the Cocktail Is Revenge"):

that's where a drawback of long-runners comes into play when characters must play roles written for a single episode which ignore character development throughout the series for the sake of better (episodic) story

]In which Lupin and the gang try to recover some gem eggs stolen from a church by a corrupt Prime Minister for the sake of the local children. This was a fairly fun episode. Hatcher must have been a pun reference to Margaret Thatcher. I enjoyed how Lupin used the kid's drawings to guilt Fujiko and Goemon into helping. The car hopping Zenigata scene was fun as well:

And the magnet trick was right out of Bugs Bunny. Cheer up guys, the good deed might not have turned out as you expected, but for once your better angels prevailed. XD

Lupin and his team working for the sake of helpless children? That was adorable, and I loved the heist too. Jigen didn't do much here, but Lupin using that shard of Zantetsuken together with his gadgets, Fujiko skating her way out with the jewels, and Goemon slicing the wall only to realize that he miscalculated his position and was still hit, were great. A pity they wanted the jewels back to scam people though.

Another Buster Keaton reference when Goemon slashed the front of the building, saved by standing exactly where the window was. Come to think of it, Goemon's samurai stoicism is reminiscent of Keaton's humor which was based on both incredible stunts and his lack of facial expressions, no matter what was happening.
