THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The crew arrives on a beach planet so Millie can enter the coconut crab pageant. But Kali, an assassin probably sent by the guy who recognized the Swordbreaker in episode 2, disrupts their plans.

A simple plot, but quick and effective. Good fleshing out of the characters with the whole "feeling the murder intent of the enemy" which turns Kali from blazé to eager to kill her prey. Nice whip against sword fight scene, with the swarm of killing bots as a bonus, even if it's patent after 4 episodes that the budget is lower than for Slayers. Plus we learned that Millie and Rail are really self-centred, and that he's a pervert.

even though these two are buffoons but the show at least shows they can actually handle themselves pretty well. I guess this was the fanservice episode. Also sure we will see ms assassin later.

Look up the history of this episode. When it was originally broadcast, it was an absolute mess. The home video release had a lot of new animation made to bring it more in line with the other episodes.

The 4th episode entitled Yashigani Hofuru (ヤシガニ屠る), lit. "Feasting on coconut crab"), which aired on April 24, 1998, was initially animated by a South Korean animation company, San Ho Studio. Because the studio had only basic reference sheets of the characters to go by, the results wound up being dismal in quality. that it was therefore later reworked for the Laserdisc releases, and the term "yashigani" would later be adopted by Japanese anime fans as a derogatory term for poor art and animation in anime. The San Ho depiction of that episode is no longer considered canon.
