THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I really don't think I've ever had as much as a lack of understanding the attraction to a male lead as I do in this show.
Why did stalker girl all of a sudden just break down?
What are Rina and her brother scheming?
Why is tsundere even in the picture? Though I don't mind her calling into question all of Touya's antics.
What is going on between Touya and his dad? Why did he kick him out? He's clearly not a drunk. Touya mentioned Alzheimer's, so is it that? Even if so, that wouldn't make him kick Touya out.
We did find out what was behind the silly fake wall, but it ended up being pretty stupid, a VIP area.
We're over halfway done, and I don't know what they're trying to do here. All I can say is I think a few people need to die in order for all of this to work.

Agree?

Haruka's still lamenting his bro's death and needs touya's the most,, but yea, he's just a few days away and she broke down

I didn't quite understand what rina is plotting either, maybe she wanted yuki to get big and rival her in the end?

His dad and him sure do have weird relationship, one day they despise one another, today thei're buddy buddy

I wonder what mizuki mana's role is, she seem out of place..

I don't think someone dying is fitted for this series..

That's what I think regarding Rina's plan...but that just seems weird.

Really? You don't think Haruka or Drama girl committing suicide wouldn't be out of place? Suicide more than an accident or murder. If anyone's getting in an accident, it would be Yuki. But she wouldn't die, rather she'd be mentally scarred, in a coma, or injured in a way she can't sing.

Somebody please explain to me Touya's appeal, because I'm not getting anything. And really, Misaki doesn't really have a right to be angry Rina came along (or I'm probably just biased).

I agree...! even though I dont get Touya's appeal, Misaki seems to be getting carried away just because hes helping her out with the drama club thing.

Im feeling more & more suspicious of Rina atm... I dont think her intentions towards Yuki resembles anything like friendship at all.

Was Yuki the person Rina & her brother were discussing in the car? i.e. the "declaration of war" and the "things are getting very interesting" stuff. o.O

I think their attraction to him is because he was there when they needed someone the most.

Haruka seems to have come to rely on him after the loss of her brother.
Yuki has a childhood crush.
Mizaki likes him because he doesn't treat her like crap like the drama people. What his face, the best friend seems to be never around when she needs someone the most.
The high school girl is lonely without parents or friends.
Yayoi wants to protect Yuki.

Rina is the one I have no clue about. She could be a complete backstabber or the one pushing the relationship between Touya and Yuki.

This episode was little more boring than previous ones... I didn't keep my mind into watching and that's why I was little lost in the end but it just wasn't that interesting.

There was little Rina, there was little Yuki. Too much Misato (?) and Touya.

Here's what I gather from everything.

1) Mana is in the picture because she's Yuki's biggest fan. She stops her self from saying it when she was talking to Touya "I'm yuki's..". She could also be something more then a fan...like an old friend but we wont know till later.

2) Yayoi watches Yuki like a hawk while Rin watches Touya. I have a feeling Yayoi may have feelings for Yuki that are more then just protective ;). She seems to hate the fact that Yuki and Touya want to be together and it's obvious Rin's brother senses that as well. So far she's been the only one making arrangements to keep the two apparent (setting up appointments to mess up her dates, limiting her calls to only a few mins, trying to keep Touya away from her..etc). Rin's brother appears to have no connection to Yayoi's tactics and may not even know about them lol. I highly doubt anything will come of Yayoi's feelings because she knows if anything did happen and someone noticed, it would mess up Yuki's job as an idol.

3) Touya's dad has Alzheimer. This is why one day he's nice to him and another he's not. I'm guessing Touya may not have really been kicked out but in-staid left on his own.

4) Haruka apparently looks at Touya as a big brother. It's unclear if she has love love feelings for Touya but it's definitely clear she uses him as a support pillar since she's been unstable since her real brother died.

5) Rin and her brother seem like their scheming to push Yuki's buttons and maker her a better idol. It could be that Rin is going to use Touya to make Yuki jealous. How that would make Yuki any better of a Idol is beyond me. There's also the chance that Rin and her brother are going to get Touya and Yuki to see each other more and boost her performance (she does seem to do better when thinking about him). If that's the case then the "battlefield" Rin's brother was talking about could be Yayoi strongly objecting and causing problems. She may even try and kill him if she is in love with Yuki haha.

6) Misaki simply has a crush on Touya because he's always there for her and he's nice. I think if Akira stopped being a dick and just started helping her and talking to her, she would gladly accept his feelings.

i agree with everything you say except the part about the father.

the father still hates his son for whatever reason, the only thing i can possibly think is that he is not his real father. bc what father kicks the son out immediately after the wife dies.

it was all an act, and that was pointed out when the father said under his breath and incredibly serious to touya "you'll be punished". so to me the whole buddy buddy was just a farce bc they were in front of company/a girl.

There are still a lot of things left unanswered. Somehow, I managed to match the pacing of the show now.

It looks like the protagonist of the series is on a tight bind. Every girl in town is hounding for his presence.

As the show progresses, we can definitely conclude their relationship to each other. Since we are already half way, I can't imagine how will they can sink those remaining episodes to conclude the entire story. Hopefully, it will all be cleared.

It's a good thing that we finally know what's behind that door.

I think it's getting better and better. The pacing is slow but steady and it never gets really boring. Of course there are issues with this show, but I don't really mind why they all like that guy - though I'm not really a fan of him either.

I don't think his father has Altzheimer. I thought this was just a bad mouthing phrase from Touya.

The VIP area with the hidden staircase was pretty cool actually. ^^

... And so Touya's harem becomes aware of one another and begins to get angry.

(Also, I'm pretty sure the Alzheimer's thing was a joke. I really wonder now what happened between Touya and his dad; I get the feeling that Touya did something dumb.)

I suppose the most interesting (but also annoying!) thing about this series is its penchant for leaving out information -- for example, when Yuki and Rina are each asked what Rina said to Yuki in the recording studio, they give different answers; the responses to those answers suggest that Yuki is telling the truth, but she might not be. We don't know. We also don't know what Rina's plan for Yuki is (which might tie in) -- my guess is that she wants to do a duet with Yuki (and that was what she promised?), since Rina said her plan would "increase Yuki's repertoire" and promote her. But I'm probably off base ^^;

And DeathfireD, I totally disagree with what you said about Misaki and Akira. Akira has been trying for a long, long time to "be there" for Misaki (it's only recently that he's given up). But because she's an idiot, she totally ignores him and instead gets help from Touya (goodness knows why). At least, that's the impression I got. I feel like Akira would need to scream his feelings in her face for her to get it, and even then she'd probably be like, "... But I like Touya." (Hehe, I kind of hate her ... x.x)

I can’t fathom how Yuki and Touya managed to stay together until this point what with all the girls (pssht, childhood friends) throwing themselves at him; it seems like everyone else is more passionate about Touya (why?) than she is. (The scene with Haruka in this episode was also a WTF moment; why is she so obsessed with him? Does he look like her brother or something?)

Like others, I really don't understand why there are so many girls in love with Touya. Of course, that's the problem I always have with harems ^^;

But you know, this show does provide a nice shot of OMG drama that makes me want to yell at the characters already (and post tl;dr messages like this).

Yea thats the problem, and the question remains what does he have in particular to deserve such attention ... = Harem

Simple THERE IS NO REASON, he MUST BE NORMAL, BUT CLUELESS to make a good harem stereotype.

He's father seems nice, what's with this cold?

Weird episode with a weird main character, his weird harem (all the girls seem a bit dumb after all) and weird developments. I thought that something more definitive/meaningful would happen until the last two episodes but I guess I was wrong, it's just a very long intro and background development before... something happens. I still don't know what but I expect some blood and tears, and great drama obviously.

Still, I like the atmosphere and setting of the show, and even if the characters are difficult to understand, they're quite fun to watch, so I'm pretty much enjoying White Album, it's not the worst anime I've seen lately.

You have a point. Maybe Touya's mom remarried to this guy and when she died he felt like he no longer had any oblation to take care of Touya. I guess we'll have to wait and see the reason.

@Senna - that might be true but I think at this point she already knows his feelings. I'm actually beginning to wonder if her abusive past may play a role in why she ignores his blatantly obvious feelings. Maybe he came on to strong and scared her. In any case at some point Touya isn't going to be there so she's gonna have to make up her mind.

ah, did anybody think that Touya was trying to hush Misaki up when she was about to say "Touya has... (Yuki)" to his father?

maybe the issue between Touya & his father is related to Yuki somehow.

I don't think Yayoi is trying to protect Yuki at all. If she really did she should have prevented from happened instead of let it happened and trying to become a hero later.
For Rina trying to help Yuki to get to the top and snatching Touya away at the same time while wearing goddess mask. As for her brother, the way he was talking in this episode didn't seem like he was doing for Yuki's sake at all. Neither 3 of them have any good intention toward Yuki, thats how i see it.

touya definitely has girl problems: a girlfriend who he can't see; a sempai who people who think he is cheating with; a green haired girl who can't seem to go one night without him; plus an idol whose very interested in him and her friend getting together, but then theres the older woman, plus the little girl who doesn't believe him.
where is all this leading???

Agreed. I smell a true Yuki fan here, too.

Rina, not Rin. And Eiji definitely supported Yayoi's efforts to keep them apart. He even said that he couldn't reemploy Touya because he's scared of Yayoi-neesan ;)

I doubt that Yayoi really has any romantic hopes on Yuki, but she definitely tries hard to protect the girl (even though she couldn't interfere the Sakura-dan sneak attack, she confronted them afterwards).

3) Touya's dad has Alzheimer. This is why one day he's nice to him and another he's not. I'm guessing Touya may not have really been kicked out but in-staid left on his own.

Well, I think it was more some fighting words than a medical diagnosis ^_^; ... they just don't get along really well.

Now where did THAT come from? O_o;

Based on their talk, I'd say that Rina suggested to sing a duet with Yuki to expand her repertoire and give Yuki a big promotional boost. They're not scheming anything ugly here, and most definitely not Rina, who genuinely cares for Yuki. Heck, Rina spelled it out explicitly: She wants to keep a close eye on Touya so that he does NOT fool around, again in order to help out Yuki, for who the connection to Touya is really important (see how she aced the recording after Rina's promise opened up a way for her to see Touya again - cheesecake in Echoes).

The battlefield will be something else: In a duet, she and Yuki will be put on eye-level, and basically, Eiji is asking Rina if she's okay with grooming herself a real rival to compete against.

I don't like songs in this anime. And Yuki's new song is unimpressive.
Also, I don't like the main characters, for the very same reason - Touya and Yuki don't seem to be really close to each other, as to me, they should have parted long ago. I don't like Misaki since she is obviously starting to demand her rights on Touya. I don't like the fact Touya doesn't care of Haruka. She is supposed to be his friend, can't he understand she feels lonely since her brother died! And now Rina. At Yuki's place, I wouldn't trust her, she may be false-faced.

You could be right. Just from the way they where talking it seems like they're scheming something though. If what you say is right then this series is gonna be awfully boring haha. There needs to be at least some bit of drama tossed into this other then Yayoi trying to rape Touya.

Yayoi clearly has a role in this somewhere though.

This episode made it official. I hate every single character in this series except for Yuki. I suppose Rina still has her moments too.

Misaki had no right to get upset about Rina showing up. It's not even like Touya ditched her. He just went after Rina. He was probably only gone 5-10 minutes. She just got all too excited since he agreed to help and she expects him to do so much. Doesn't she have any other friends?

Haruka has got some serious problems. We all get lonely and lose someone we love, but we don't all cling desperately to one person and need to see them everyday.

And.. Mana. Enough already. Why doesn't she just believe Touya. It's really not that difficult of a concept that he's dating an idol. She knows they went to school together. Why would he constently say it with such a straight face?

It dawned on me that Haruka (the underclassman waiting outside the door) is a good example of why they need to work on building social relationships in Japan (if not everywhere). Unless the fiction is nothing at all like reality, but how many shows have you seen that involved this kind of isolated, lonely character?

Touya is freakin' stupid, or this must be what males are actually doing in these kinds of situations in real life. I see that he tries to be friends with these girls, but when it comes to "Rina-chan" I don't know what he's thinking. Just like Misaki-san noticed: why Rina-CHAN. And why bother to lie to Yuki about him and Rina meeting together? That's freakin suspicious even though nothing happened. If he wants to be with Yuki, he should TRY to be with Yuki. All he does is mouring about the fact that they can't be together because a manager said so. Get your *ss up there and be with her. Sheesh. If you want to tell her something DO SO instead of just thinking about it.

Other girls: HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND. So please stop pretending there might be happening something soon, because there will not. Ofcourse he's there when someone is needed most, but when that person is taken you should NEVER even consider being with him. Get a life, grow up and find someone else.

So that was me raging. I'm very sorry. I still like the anime but these frustrations are tense... XD

I wonder why Mana needs a tutor. If she got all the questions right on that exam Touya gave her then why does she need a tutor?

Haruka what looks like it broke down. She looks at Touya as a big brother? She said onii-chan. I can't tell if it's love or she looks to him as a older brother when her real brother died.

Misaki seems to be very lonely.

I still don't know what Rina wants from Touya or Yuki.

A lot of these girls are lonely! Geez!

I find it weird that Touys's father was kinda being a bit too nice for Misaki. Does he feel lonel when his wife died?

So many questions! I hope they get answered later on.

I understand absolutely nothing about this anime, we almost do not see Yuki and the main character together and when they're together they do absolutely non sense.
